Community Tasting Note

  • Matt Scott Likes this wine: 96 points

April 21, 2015 - She is back with an unrelenting vengeance. First off, this is the best entry-level Napa Cabernet that you will find. The fruit and polish are hypnotizing, with blueberry, Turkish coffee, shaved coconut, melted fudge and Indian spice, ending with flower shop. The nose is exuberant, yet the palate is absolutely suave and demure. Silky tannin and every level of the behaved palate is evident. Decanted for two hours. Drink 2017 - 2034.

6/15/15, 5:02 PM - Matt, you gave the '09 Leoville Barton 95 points. You rated the Hall 96 points. I have had both bottles too, are you sure you got the right Hall wine?

6/16/15, 2:23 PM - I just read your tasting note on the '12 and it honestly sounds more like the '11. When I had this it was decanted for three hours and loaded with nuance and dimension. It was very surprising. Did you decant? Maybe an off bottle?
The '09 Barton was a stunner.

6/16/15, 2:49 PM - I am sure I drank the '12 Hall. I bought this based on CT reviews like yours. I did decant. Very disappointed. $40 USD can buy a heck of a Bordeaux.

    Cheers!
