February 19, 2016 - Despite "the more of everything philosophy" Jayson Pahlmeyer is told to have expressed several times, this is an elegant yet extremely powerful wine. The first impression is one of mulitple layers and ample dark fruit, elegant led pencil, cacao and butterscotch accompanied by lovely orange zest and very expressive violets. The latter is just exploding from the glass after some time. The palate is incredibly balanced and integrated with pleasant acidity and velvety tannins. More of everything apparently leads to balance, power and yes certainly also "elegance". This wine has a long time to go in the cellar, but I truly enjoyed it tonight too. A lovely effort!

2/26/16, 7:25 AM - Such a great wine. Did you have any thoughts on how much longer it can age? I had one last year and it was wonderful. Sitting on 9 more.

3/9/16, 10:22 AM - That's good to know. I am sitting on 9 of them right now. My take is that these can go a long time. We are planning on doing a flight soon including a 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 and see how they all are.

3/11/16, 10:07 PM - Looking forward to seeing the CT Notes on that Pahlmeyer Red Vertical.... !!! Always have loved the Proprietary Red... just getting a bit pricey.. but then all the good Napa Cabs are getting up there....

3/13/16, 11:54 AM - I agree on how pricey it has become. $135 retail...please. I am not buying anymore at those prices. I do have about 30 bottles in my cellar that I will enjoy over the next 10-15 years. They Jayson cab is pretty good if you have not tried it. I still like the regular Jayson too for $42 or so.

3/13/16, 12:50 PM - In today's market, $135 is actually on the low side for the Pahlmeyer Red, least expensive i have seen is around $150, just remember when 5 or so years ago.. picking em up for about $70.....Still a good quality Bordeaux Blend.

3/14/16, 7:14 AM - Very good point on the price of many cabernets. I am just spoiled having picked some up at 70/80 in the past. That being said I was still paying a lot more for other cabs...
