January 1, 2006 - Last bottle New Year's Eve with Quail/wine sauce: It was spectacular, not much to add to several recent notes. A perfect aged Bordeaux, and at least ours is at the perfect time to drink. The classic nose, not to be mistaken with any other wine: lead pencil, a bit of leather/tobacco, color was indeed garnet, but with no hint of brick. Smooth seamlessly-integrated tannins, fruit very much still in evident, a remarkably balanced wine. Not only are american reds not made this way, I'm not sure Bordeauxs are still being made this way...to really be a a peak 20-25 years later. Wish I had more, much more.
