Decent wine, with no faults. Some sense of place. Dusty and fruity. Nice, but nothing special.

Deep garnet in colour, with notes of exotic spices, a little plastic like-glue like unpleasant nose that fades away with time, mature red fruits. Good structure with smooth tannins. Medium to long finish. Not bad.

Enkelt lite bouquet, tanniner sitter der men ikke lenge. Litt sopp og lite ubalansert i frukt.

Light bodied with a slightly effervescent feeling. On PnP, light red fruit, strawberry and cherry with mushroom undertone. Developed slightly darker as it breathed. Overall... Strange.

The nose offers a sweet nose of dark cherry, oak, milk chocolate, cassis and nutmeg. Full bodied with a burly tannin structure that shows oak and skin components. It integrates nicely with modest acid and forms a sturdy but pleasant mouthfeel. The flavor profile includes sweet cherry, boysenberry, blackberry, cigar tobacco and black pepper. I have zero prior experience with this grape or producer, but this seems like it’s either just entering its prime face or already somewhere in it.

Frankly, not that bad. Quite light, taste fine with some flavours of red berries. A pity that the lentgh in the mouth is so short

My first wine from Albania. Difficult wine for me - not very balanced and precise.

A very special type of red that initially reminds me of an Amarone on the nose, with very ripe (overripe) grapes but also with a hint of something medicinal and oak. On the palate it's more of the almost jammy juice with more oak that I would say are of good quality. Plum is present. It goes between an American over extracted wine and Brunello with it's characteristic oakiness (that I sometimes find sweet).

The finish is none of the above. The tannins are in the back seat, itäs the acid that is command here. Savory maybe?

A very interesting wine, and actually a good one, if combined with butter based sauce and red meat (which I had).

Very nice, has a good southern Rhone kind of feeling to it.

Radiant ruby colour, not all too youthful huel - fresh blood, iron, pomgranate, charcoal, saffron, paper pulp - super fresh, vigor and surprisingly lightly "fleet-footed", aromas of pomgranate, red currant, minimal trace of rasins, blood and steel, saffron, black pepper, rather lively acid. Actually rather convincing crisp red wine with certain substance.

This was given to me as a gift from a childhood friend who brought it back from Albania. He wanted an evaluation of it. I’m sensitive to pyrazines so I waited for a gathering of Bordeaux/cabernet sauvignon drinkers to evaluate it. Glenn pulled the cork and I gave it a taste. No pyrazines so no green peppers, no potato water, no wet newspaper. I was happy I could enjoy it. It was still cold but I got black fruit like cassis and maybe some mushroom. The finish wasn’t bitter but was more sour. That was the only flaw. Glenn, Zachary and Richard all thought it wasn’t varietally correct. It didn’t taste like cabernet sauvignon to them. Michelle thought it did since she also got black fruits and pencil shavings. Michelle said there was a notable lack of oak, which she thought maybe came from being made in a foudre made from Slovenian oak. Without the pyrazines, I lean towards it being maybe a hybrid of cabernet sauvignon and something else. The sour finish disappeared as it warmed out and got more air, but Michelle wondered if that was due to my food consumption changing how it tasted. It was a pleasant drink. It doesn’t seem to have the stuffing to age.
The winemaker read this note and passed along these comments:
The variety is 100% cab sauvignon, but it has aged 7-8 months in wooden barrels from Kosovo, not Slovenia.
The sweetness at the end comes as it is from the late grape harvest and was more concentrated…

Tasted with the winemaker in Durrës Albania. Evalt was trained in Bordeaux and returned home to make local wine. Four year old vines and production facility is in an old Albanian nuclear bunker so expectations were low. Was super surprised - this was a really good wine. At $16/bottle it was (like everything else in Albania) incredibly priced. Now to figure out how to import it……
