- Brick color - Pnp, needed a decant of couple hours. Dark, deep burgundy color, full body, dark fruit flavors. Robust tannins, high acidity, long finish. Opens up some with time in the glass.
White - Sparkling
Lots going on, basically a meal in a glass, feels like you can chew it. On the nose and palate, in no particular order: white truffle, grilled sesame, soba and buckwheat, brazil nut, tarte tatin and Camus calvados, grassy fresh cream, nectarines stewed in honey. Lots of salinity underneath all those flavors.

Past prime by around a decade and too thinned out. Possible that it was also slightly corked.

Another Bordeaux by way of the Santa Cruz Mountains. Stunning on so many levels, but not ostentatious. Built to last.

Tasted blind. Pretty and floral nose. Nice age on this wine. The fruit powers through the tannins allowing for a long finish. Great wine!

Drinking so nicely. There are cherries and black olives with a touch of orange zest. Tannins are very soft.

By the glass at the JAL Lounge , Tokyo.
Firm, aperitif style, sharp and bit lacks a bit of elegance and depth it works overall like all of its kin well made NVs.

Very enjoyable for a fairly inexpensive bottle. Great red for a fish or baked chicken entree. Drinks similar to a Pinot noir. Strong strawberry notes with some bright tart cherry and bramble notes. For a sub-$30 bottle, I would definitely drink this again.
White - Sparkling
Incredible nose, very funky, with mushrooms, bortrytis, truffle, yeast, acetone. Palate is nice, creamy lactic acid mouthfeel, with more acidity than expected given the richness of the nose. Shortish finish, but funky flavors come through. Strong bruised apples taste, almost like cider. Menthol as well.

Tasted blind. Bing cherry, sappy exotic, loamy earth, structured finish. A wound up delicious ball of energy. I enjoyed it very much.

Nice really crisp sharp white that I enjoyed. Seeing its earlier rating I was not expecting such a bright sharp wine. A nice surprise and would buy more.

Nose - marzipan, vadouvan spices, bitter almond, cracker, wheatabix. Also notes of cheese -- brie en croute.

Taste - beeswax and spices really come through, pleasingly thick texture.

Tasted on day 2. Huge hit of dry extract on this. Pears. Zippy acidity. Lime zest. Some saline and mineral. A huge wine with power to spare. Pair this with a rich cream sauce. It will overwhelm lighter dishes.

Medium ruby with cherry, blueberry, white pepper, garrigue aromas with subtle floral and menthol notes. On the palate, it's medium-bodied with juicy acidity and velvety tannins with black and red cherry, blueberry, boysenberry flavors accented with dried herb and peppery notes. Medium plus finish.

Parisian Jeff Carrel was looking to make wines and found his way to the south of France where he has achieved some great status as a roving winemaker. It is a dual homage meaning "parents" in his native neighborhood in Paris and also referencing Grenache and Carignan, the parent grape varieties to all red wines in Languedoc-Roussillon. The fruit organically farmed fruit comes from Laure-Minervois and from vines that are 40+ years old. This year's blend is a 70% Grenache, 30% Syrah. The grapes are destemmed before fermentation, the wine sees no oak.

PnP, consumed over 3 hours. Appearance: Clear, medium ruby-garnet with light edge browning. Nose: Clean, medium intensity with developed aromas of dried cherry, leather. tobacco, cola, and ice tea. Palate: Dry, medium acid, medium- tannin, medium body, medium intensity, 13.4% abv with developing flavors of black cherry, cola, and ice tea with a medium+ finish.

Balance: Excellent
Length: Excellent
Intensity: Very Good
Complexity: Very Good-Excellent

By appearance and nose this gave indications of advanced age but feels like its still developing on the palate. Shows excellent balance and length this evening. Drink now or over next 1-2 years.

closed and simple on p/p day one--would have not guessed amarone; much more open on day two with rustic and primary ripe fruit, and good, albeit slightly coarse acidity; it now tastes like an amarone that needs time to settle down.

Too young to rate. Really compelling nose of leather, cassis, and stone. Quite tight even hours after decanting, with a fair bit of resistant tannin. Seems super good, but hard to get to the center of. Needs time.

Young and experimental or all of as the Japanese call him brewer. Frankly quite clean and elegant , soft citrus and pretty focussed sake. Let the young play we say and maybe braking mould is sometimes good

On first whiff, banana, apple, toast. Then mellows (nose seems a little closed), but great pastry aromas -- creme anglaise, puff pastry, lemon curd. Dill and tarragon faint on nose second day. Chalky texture.

Blue fruit and a prominent leather tannin. As it opens up, raspberry and vanilla creeps in. Big, big wine that should evolve nicely for years to come. The fresh fruit flavors make this more approachable and I dig how big the flavors are.

This is close to its end, in my opinion. The flavor and body profile is becoming thin. I would drink whatever you have of this vintage and not wait until 2027, which is when CT says it’s good. We enjoyed this with a magnificent ragu and pasta and fresh salad from our greenhouse. We followed it with our favorite Manchego. We split the wine tasting with an Einaudi 2012 Barolo Canubi. I’m afraid the Canubi won out because of its fuller body and better fruit. But both wines had that characteristic spice we love about Nebbiolos. Both of these wines need an hour at least to open.

Bit raw, sauvage as the French , soft creamy. Pretty Sake and albeit only 50% polished still has a lovely elegant texture.

Domaine Gerard Fiou Sancerre Pinot Noir Rosé 2014: Pale salmon in color; grapefruit peel, and apricot on the nose; high acidity; tastes like lemons and grapefruit with a long finish.  Simple and refreshing. I like it and Nellie does too.

This was so fresh and delicious with effortless weight and power. There was a precision and elegance compared to the 2010 champ canet we drank prior. Still very young and with cellaring will certainly get much better. 93-94 potential

Apple, Pear, Lemon, White flowers and a hint of carmel on the nose.

Palate is loads of Lemon, Lime and Pear. Reminds me of the chewey center of skittles

Very effervescent and lively minerality

This was PNP, delicious fruit fill nose of white and stone fruits, there was little density to this wine with weight and power. Nice secondary evolution. Quite flamboyant but balanced from a great vintage. Next to a 2020 folatieres en richard which in comparison was more precise and fresh marking quite a shift in winemaking from this maker. I loved both

Mid shoulder and probably the worst colour of my 3 bottles. Cork was intact but brittle. Funk blew off quickly. On the nose was a beautiful chambolle bouquet of strawberries, blueberries. Still very fresh on the palate with a vibrancy and energy. Great structure but wine lasted only about 2 hours and started to degrade a little but by them most was drunk. A beautiful wine from a great vintage.

Not much of a nose. Tannic with strawberry and sour cherry notes. No one in my party particularly enjoyed this one after one hour of air, however, I took home the remainder of the bottle and drank the rest the next night in which it opened up a bit. Not my favorite zin.

The 2008 Calon Ségur is perhaps at its most appealing right out of the bottle, showing a red-fruited, ashy, beef blood, cedary, herbaceous (recalling Benedictine), capsicum profile. With air this clamps down, the red cherry transitioning to black cherry and cassis, refusing to offer the charms it did at its debut. Even then, its charms are on the slightly austere side, but I can’t lie - I like the firm hand of Calon Ségur. This should end up comfortably in the 92-93 range when it settles (in a decade).
