By the glass at L'Effervescence in Tokyo. No detailed notes but very elegant and complex with an extremely fine bead. Stone fruit, apple, and floral notes dominant but delicate. An intellectual champagne that was perfect for the menu on the night. This was a treat to drink.

피자랑 정말 잘 어울렸던 신퀀타
진득하고 잔당감있다고 호불호가 강하다하지만
나에게는 중간 바디의 적당한 무게감
기분 좋은 포도향과 모나지않고 부드러운 넘김이 좋다

Love the synergy of the Guffens style with ‘21 vintage. You get the concentration of fruit with the cooler elegance of the vintage.

This is packed with lemon-lime soda on the nose. White flowers, light honey, bruléed grapefruit. Quite a lot of dry extract. Paradoxically feels coiled but also approachable. It think it’s going to age superbly.

I know these wines are ‘expensive’ relative to their terroir but somehow they still represent a bargain. At least to me they do. 93-94.

Intenso, presente, vivo, potência constante, mesmo depois de horas. Certa menção de austeridade, mas massageada por fruta e acidez. Misturo boca e nariz, porque tudo se compõe.

Really very good. I tried this wine 18 months ago and I did not decant it for long enough.

Decanted 12 hours. It made a big difference. Really nicely balanced and savoury. Soft tannins (due to the long decanting). Dusty graphite, tobacco and cherry.

This will go on nicely for another 10 years or drink now with a good decant.

Excellent. I am new to riojas - but the structure just terrific. Definitely young. Will try another bottle next year.

Some slight bottle refermentation happening. Flattens out the fruit and gives hints of apple cider. Perhaps no sterile filter but this is the way.

Pepper with a carbonic fermentation fruit character. Nice winemaking here but light in body and finish. I can't help but to wonder about the current wage collapse to asset price that we are living through and how that will affect the wine industry. Hmmm.

Gentle, well made, integrated dark fruit. Doing well

Light, subtle melon. Fairly simple wine.

Excellent
Very reductive and smoky, pear, apple, blackcurrant nose
Yeasty, textured, high acid, sugar well integrated but noticeable, long finish

Opened with an hour decant. Drank with grilled pork chops and portobellos.
This was wonderful from the first sip. Open and plenty of fruit. OK not the fruit of a Sonoma Pinot but that’s why I buy Rhys.
Struggle to see this getting much better with time.

Light, refreshing, but with complexity. There are some citrus and pear to the nose. This is my first 100% Cab Franc Blanca.

We drank it alongside the same wine from 2023. Love them both. Friends flagged pepper on the nose and palate of 2015, even “sulphur” on the nose (which I didn’t detect) compared to 2023. For me, 2015 was simply richer, fuller and with a touch of rumbling volatility which I really liked.

The Traminer’s lychee floral aroma and flavour has settled down. The Riesling has provided the backbone. The Kerner (I think) fills out the depth of flavour. Fresh, aromatic and full. This is such an interesting, unique and enjoyable wine.

Both great wines!

1. Appearance
Clarity: Clear
Intensity: Medium
Color: Pale lemon with a hint of green, suggesting youth and freshness.

2. Nose
Condition: Clean
Intensity: High
Aroma/Bouquet:
Fruit: Vibrant notes of lemon, lime, and green apple, complemented by white peach
Flower: Floral hints, notably elderflower, adding a layer of aromatic complexity
Earth: Minimal earthy tones, with a clean and precise focus
Mineral: Pronounced flinty and stony mineral qualities, typical of the terroir of Monts Damnés
Wood: No oak – the wine is usually vinified and aged in stainless steel to maintain its crisp character

3. Palate
Sweetness: Dry
Acidity: High – sharp and refreshing, perfectly balancing the fruit flavors
Tannin: N/A – not applicable to this white wine
Flavor Character:
Fruit: Continues with the citrus and green fruit themes, presenting a lively fruit profile with a hint of grapefruit for added zest
Flower: Subtle floral undertones persist, enhancing the freshness
Earth: Very slight, focusing instead on purity and expression of fruit
Mineral: Distinctive minerality that reinforces the structure and adds to the lengthy finish
Wood: Absent, ensuring the purity and crispness of the wine are front and center

Body/Alcohol: Medium-bodied, with alcohol levels that are well-integrated, providing body without overshadowing the acidity and flavors

Length: Long, with a lingering mineral-driven finish that continues to express the crisp fruit and subtle floral notes

Conclusion

Quality with Respect to Price: Henri Bourgeois Sancerre La Côte des Monts Damnés 2022 is considered a high-quality wine from a renowned producer, often seen as offering good value given its complexity and the prestige of its vineyard location. It is priced to reflect its status as a premium Sancerre.

Maturity with Respect to Ageing: While delightful in its youthful vibrancy, this wine can also benefit from a few years of aging, which will allow its flavors to integrate further and potentially develop more nuanced secondary characteristics.

Food and Wine Pairing: Excellent with seafood, particularly shellfish like oysters or grilled fish. Its acidity and mineral complexity also make it a superb match for goat cheese, salads, and light poultry dishes.

As with prior vintages, the Rutherford origin leaves us with a Zinfandel that has strong Cabernet notes. Some may not enjoy that, but it makes it stand up to somewhat hearty food, in our case smoked pork loin roast. It is 100% Rutherford Zin, but the taste is 50%Zin, 50% Cab. It is slow to age, 2018 still young. Solid 90.

Reductive on first whiff, matchstick, yeast, salt on the nose. Fantastic minerality and depth for a wine that clocks in at 9% alcohol. Tropical fruit, peach, lemon juice, starfruit, and a pleasing slinky texture that slides down the throat. Paris beautifully with spicy dan dan noodles.

I believe I opened this way too early, given the magnum format. Agree with other reviewers in regard to restraint and subdued flavors, but most elements in place. Good stone fruit, acidity, body. Bottle lasted 3 nights, best on night 3.

The Traminer shows through significantly, adding its lychee floral aroma and flavour. The Riesling provides the backbone. The Kerner (I think) fills out the depth of flavour, dampening the surprisingly exuberant Traminer. Fresh, aromatic and full. This is such an interesting, unique and enjoyable wine.

Opened up after about 3 hour decant. Starts very closed and tart, with tart cherry flavors. Dark fruits came out after three hours but still had some tartness. Tannins are smooth but firm. Will let these lay down longer or open with longer decant in future.

Fair amount of color for such a young riesling. This bottle has a bunch of herbs and petrol in the nose. Nice gripping acidity and gently sweet. Would be a killer with asian food.

Consistent with my TN of almost exactly a year ago. Still taking a couple of hours+ to really fill out, this hits a really nice place of balance between fruit and structure, elegance and power, then held that well over 3 nights. Tastes as if drinking closer to the start than finish of its drinking window, although not sure if there’s much upside from here. Along with the Vertigo of the same vintage, count me impressed, particularly at their respective price points. 93-94 if scoring. NB. Staiti is literally a rock star, but a quick Spotify probe showed I probably like his wine more than his music.

Fantastic. This is so intense, silky and long. One of the competitors for best 2016 Brunello

I should say first, I'm not really ever a fan of Cotes de Beaune reds. This wasn't bad and definitely inexpensive for what you get. I opened it for 3 hours after seeing all the CT reviews. It wasn't enough. The last glass poured around 2.5 hours later actually started to come around and drink nicely. Decent aged Burgundy but not my style and not worth having to go to the trouble of opening so far ahead of drinking.

Starts with strong dark berry notes highlighting the high merlot loading & transitions to a tasty spicy balanced licorice with perhaps medium tannins. On the first day the bottle was opened, the ending was a bit strange on the palate, almost a buzzy fermented mushroom flavor, a bit early as well. But my wife & I both liked it from the first day. After a few days in the fridge, the ending improved considerably with a noticeably improved balanced ending.

From my late father’s cellar, and properly stored since release, this is a joy. It still has a finishing kick of tannins, but also some bottle age sweetened fruit that cozies up to those tannins and says “I got this.” Classic Napa Cabernet that is wonderful now, but has plenty of runway.

Opened, poured and let sit about 1 hr. Then: Maybe some dark fruit on the nose. Initial taste is dark fruit, maybe a bit sweetish; kind of rich, warm mouthfeel; acidity and tannins OK; fruit fading on the finish and maybe a bit disjointed from the entry. Fruit/taste fairly monotone through the rest of the glass, warmth and sweetish feel persists, but overall taste doesn't improve. Nothing close to a cabernet profile. This seems to be a drop-off from the bottle I had in March, 2023. Waiting a year did not help. I have several bottles of this left and will try another in a month or so to see if this one is just an outlier.

Upon opening, it’s a touch reductive. After 90 minutes or so however the rubbery notes have wafted away.
Dark purple/magenta color.

It’s quite big for a cru Beaujolais. Lots of dark fruit, and violets are present on the front end, with notes of roast meat, leather and lots of umami on the mid-palate. There’s a bit of tannic structure, indicating that this one will continue to improve for another 7 to 10 years. Lots of upside potential.

I would be in no rush to open a bottle if you happen to have one.

hue suggests younger than its vintage, but lacks in both delicate nor intensity.
decanting for an hour does help bring its jammy redness, but barely at the edge.
