Nice age to drink this. Lighter red fruit balanced smooth tannin and acidity. Fun to drink!

Disappointed. Guess I will never fall in love with dry whites from Bordeaux.

Outrageous! God, how I love these wines—and this is my very favorite Azorean wine. I’m kicking myself for not trying this earlier. It’s like Chablis, but it has this extra gear. I said it before, I’ll say it again: there could be no better pairing on this earth for raw fish. If you were angry that you feel priced out of Chablis nowadays… this is the door you should go knocking on.

This is deeply colored yellow-gold. Make me think this had some skin contact in the making of the wine. Peachy aroma and palate. Unfortunately it’s lacking structure at this point in 2024. I’d guess the initial structure came from the skins, not acidity, which has now dissipated. Still nice enough to enjoy for a different wine experience.

PnP. Color deep garnet, some orange/brown on rim. On the nose: Cassis, cinnamon, leather and plum. On the palate: Cassis, leather, graphite, hint of plum and dusty tannins. Lean in style. Past its peak but it’s a solid old world Bordeaux.

Enjoyed on my very short trip to Italy. Had already some (unexpected) brown edges. Worries me a bit with regards to aeging. Nice, easy drinking Brunello with not that much complexity.

Brought to Thomas’s, with a glass with snacks, then most of the remainder with Thai food, which it worked with surprisingly well. 4th of 4, and somewhere in between the last 2 bottles, coming to its best footing after 45 mins-hour of air, then holding well, with both structure and fruit in a solid spot. I think that this is at to ever so slightly past peak, so I’d drink this within the next few years, but if I could find more at my purchase price, I’d buy it without batting an eyelash. 92-93+ if scoring.

Disappointing. Rep sold to us as a dry rose but not the case. Classic regional fat through the palate but a wave of sweetness hits late.

With peppery beef stew. Bold, but smooth enough to enjoy on its own without the beef or pepper. Buy more.

Primary fruit, chewy. Very good. Still clear tannins. Will probably last many years yet.

Am not the biggest fan of NZ/Aus Pinot Noir, so don’t be concerned by my somewhat tepid review.

Delightful to follow as it unfolds over three hours. Silk texture, medium-light body, red currant fruit, good intensity and length. Cellared since original release.

Will this wine ever age? No signs of bricking; still quite youthful. Quite a bit of black fruits and spice. While not what I would expect from Beaujolais (too dark and roasted), it was fun to drink

Saturday night pop and pour. Ruby in color and lighter around the edges. Lots of red fruit on the nose, slightly perfumed, with some pencil lead.

Medium-plus bodied on the palate with medium tannins (that are tamed with the elapse of time after opening) and medium-plus acidity. I really like the acid facet of this wine, as it freshens up every sip. Flavors of black cherry, plum, black pepper, and only slight pyrazine. Spot-on for the varietal. Okay concentration.

I wouldn't call this the most complex wine I've ever had, but just how easily it disappears from the glass surprised me. Just flat out delicious, and it's a clear quantity purchase if you can catch it at the Last Bottle price.

Great Rioja Blanco! Nose was closed at first so I let it decant for an hour. Light golden color. Nose of lemon, clementine, cream and oak is very noticeable here. On the palate it's rich and creamy, tons of oak but well integrated. Lemon meringue pie, vanilla, butter and some light white florals. Very well made, I'd honestly let it age quite a while longer. 93+

Ripe fresh concentrated savory dark red and black fruit, slight sweet pipe tobacco, and subtle woody herbs. M+/High lively acid and M+/H silky tannins are seamlessly integrated into the M+/Pronounced fruit. Full body, but light on its feet. Outstanding.

Very nice wine. Great nose, although pretty tight. We should have decanted, as it opened quite a bit in the glass. Nose was a little reticent, but black fruits, graphite, and voilet/lavender notes. Thick and viscous in the mouth, with a very nice finish, although tannins still pretty elevated. This would benefit from some age.

Picked up a case of these at auction for $16/btl all in.
Cork stained about half way and stained color looked a little weird (yellow-ish?), but the wine was sound.
Not much in the way of aromatics, but on the palate we were greeted with clean, bright, red fruit, with plenty of earthy notes throughout. Not much depth or concentration, which I was expecting a bit more of considering that it's a 1er Cru. Good wine, though, and certainly worth what I paid.

Purchased in 2012, stood up and slow oxed for 3 hours at cellar temp. Appearance: Clear, medium garnet nearly to the rim with a thin circumference of bricking. Nose: Clean, medium intensity with developed aromas of dried cherry, tar, balsamic, soy, leather, and tobacco - subtle, but complex. Palate: Dry, medium acid, medium+ tannin is soft and very well integrated, medium body, medium intensity, 14.0% abv with developed flavors of dried cherry, balsamic, leather, and tobacco with a medium+ finish.

Balance: Excellent-Outstanding
Length: Excellent
Intensity: Very Good-Excellent
Complexity: Excellent-Outstanding

This is a wow wine. It has passed its peak but is still remarkable. It is very much still alive and somewhat limited in intensity but is showing exceptional balance and complexity. The balance between the primary, secondary, and tertiary characteristics is outstanding. This is one of those rare homeruns with a 25+ year old wine. Drink now or over next 1-2 years.

Orange-pink salmon color. Somewhat neutral nose with citrus and just a touch of melon. Saliva-inducing entry. Initially, Pinot Noir character sits in the background but becomes more apparent the longer the bottle is open. Refreshing… and a good value!

This is better than it's ever been. If you've ever doubted the old chestnut of a wine "putting on weight" with age this will disabuse you of any skepticism. The fruit here is as black and dense as road tar, still youthful, succulent, and sweet - except when this was *actually* in its youth it was nowhere nearly so rich and dense. But the accompanying flavors are the stuff that only comes out with bottle age, loads of smoldering tobacco and a scorched, singed character that's almost Pessac-like. This is still climbing up its slope, possibly with even more room for improvement, but at the very least a long ways to go before it tastes like something you'd call mature. Perhaps a successor to the underrated 1985?

Bad bottle? I found this totally underwhelming. Very little body, fruit weight or presence. Mild lemon notes. No signs of age at 8yrs but but barely any signs of 'wine'. 11%.....interesting. BTW the standard release from 2016 was very good and full of energy.

Gosh this is a fabulous Cru Beaujolais. I’m liking it more than the ‘19, which I had a few months ago. In comparison, it seems more structured and while its fruit is quite ripe, it’s balanced by the firm but ripe tannins and bright acidity. Drinking this confirms that Foillard really knows the Morgon appellation and the Cote du Py, and how to produce the finest wines from it. Will it improve with age? Possibly, but given its current exuberance, spice notes, and explosive fruit, why wait!

Classic BdB aromas and flavors. Fresh acidity provides balance. With the grape ripeness associated with climate change, the lack of dosage really enhances the crispness. Shows a beautiful vein of chalky minerality to add complexity on the long finish. Disgorged February 2021; 100% Chardonnay. Worked well with the broiled swordfish, cauliflower rice and green beans. Drink through 2029+.
