Bright medium crimson-ruby color. Sweet ripe raspberries and strawberries with a black earth undertone on the nose. Similar notes on the wine, which is excellent. Long sweet red berry finish.

Drinking beautifully now on the pop n’pour. Dusty blackberry, black cherry, crème de violette, cardamom, and mocha on the nose. Lovely balance of dark berry fruit and savory herbal character on the palate, with a core of graphite minerality. Medium-bodied with fresh acidity and gentle mouthcoating tannic grip, this has some structure still to keep going a few years but may be better to drink on the sooner side to still enjoy the primary fruit notes.

Well past its prime now, but has traded fruit for complexity. Mostly mineral notes. Good acid and structure.

Popped and poured. Golden and cloudy. Nose of mushrooms and, now that I see the reference in a note below, clear ginger bug. The palate is sour and funky, but golden fruity, also touched by that spice that I’m now unable to call anything but ginger. The finish is a bit on the VA side, and not the longest, but this went incredibly well with really funky delicious porky bratwurst brought over from the Forest Pork Store on Long Island… a reminder of my days in grad school devouring those wursts with whatever funky beer or natural wine I could get my hands on.

I gave the bottle an hour of air before I poured a glass and it was pretty tight. It improved after another hour and then I capped it and left a glass's worth for the following day, in which there was no payoff. I might be in the minority here, but I feel this should be saved for another couple years.

Medel rubin, mycket genomskinligt. Tunna gardiner (13,5 procent).
Polerade tanniner, märks bara fram i munnen. Skumt.

Purchased off the wine list at Little Pearl,Key West. White gold. Nose of flinty stone, apple core, citrus. Poised layers of detailed grapefruit and apple fruit accompanied by crisp, dry stony notes on the palate. Lovely acidity and pliant texture. Interesting and delicious, providing a lovely counterpoint to the outstanding food courses of our meal.

Nice Rioja. Juicy and refreshing. Well worth the $15

Mörk rubin. Knappt genomskinligt, oerhört tätt. Medelgardiner (14,5 procent).
Känns lite stökigt i all sin saftighet. Behöver nog en matbit. Vi testar med anka.

Medel gyllene. Medelgardiner (12,5 procent).
Lite blommigt. Fresia? Vete fan. Aning brynt smör.
Snustorrt trots den yppiga doften. Men ändå fylligt.

Decanted (very little sediment) and consumed immediately over several hours in a Grassl Cru. Drank well from the start. Intense somewhat exotic nose lots of spice and brambles. Palate is a classic Barolo profile. I found it quite giving for an ‘06. Lots of fruit left and not overly tannic. Clearly lots of life ahead, but drinking nicely today.

Popped and poured, cellar temperature. Light garnet color. Aromatic nose of cherry, cedar and wet earth, hint of tar. Light body, light tannins with a persistent grip. No noticeable heat, any oak is well-integrated at this point. Light pleasant acidity. Tart cranberry fruit on the palate, with a bit of savory strawberry and sweet raspberry, a touch of (white pepper?) spice. Lingering finish. Food-friendly. Still has a few years ahead. Very quaffable, good QPR.

This is big, modern, yet identifiably Nuits. Dark cherry, sweeter than many, oak quite evident on nose. palate shows oak more. Not a lot of structure, and seems quite simple. Seems almost off-dry - especially in comparison to a Gevrey. From a half bottle, so... could be that. A bit of heat. Long finish.

Wow - nice nose that opens opulently - whit flowers, citrus, salinity. Really nice. Reminds me of Batard. On tast perfectly balanced rich on the palate, saline and sucre. Long finish. This is so young still - can't wait for some age on this.

Fantastic late harvest Semillon. Great acidity and texture. Perfectly sweet. Not overhearing at all.

Absolutely stunning, world class rose. Bright strawberry and apple on the nose. Very fine mousse. On the palate, lots of texture, dry extract, and chalkiness. Acidity for days. Presents very dry, but not sure on the dosage. Long, lingering finish. Exceptional.

My first spottswoode but definitely not my last. If this is what a “bad” vintage tastes like I’m more than happy to wait (and enjoy)my 09,18’s and 19’s I have in the cellar. Tons of cherry fruit and some earthy undertones made for a lovely bottle of wine. Decant of 2-3 hours and it was beautiful all night.

Not a far cry from the so-called "Cuvée YL" bottling of the same vintage, but I get shades of coconut and watermelon here along with the peach and strawberry. Great minerality. This producer makes superb rosés.

Dark Red, black berries aromas and at taste. Round and long finishing. It pairs well with strong taste food, like blue and gorgonzola cheese and Steak au Poivre.

Easy drinking entry level burgundy with good tension, nose and acidity. The tannins need to resolve a little bit but in general nice entry level Vosne with carasterictic spices and fruit.

I like it but only with food, especially tomato-based dishes. The friendly acidity of this wine marries well with tomato sauce. Notes of barely-ripened strawberries and cherries. The finish is alcoholic (not good); no complexity there. The problem with this wine is it is over-hyped on the back of the bottle: from the same estate as Haut-Brion, touted as elegant and complex...it just doesn't live up to the hype. It's a $20 wine, not a $60+ wine. As Wine Cellar Insider Jeff Leve points out, it's an ideal wine for a restaurant (Italian restaurant especially): not complicated, approachable, goes well with the food, but put it on the lower half of the price scale.

A refreshing French take on Sauv. Blanc after our heavy concentration on California versions in recent months. Apples, lemon zest and creek stones. A touch of toast and an ever-so-slight sparkle when first uncorked. Very concentrated and sure to reward those of us with patience. We loved this. Drink now to 2028. Outstanding.

Ripe and dried white peach, dried and baked yellow apple, syrupy ripe pineapple, oak, toast, vanilla cream, funky (almost-but-not musty), hazelnut, roasted cashew, wilted white flower. Pronounced complexity. M+/Full body. M/M+ acid. Long finish. A very interesting wine. Outstanding.

Rich rosé color. Intriguing strawberry nose. From tasting I would never have guessed this a Pinot Gris. A bit of haziness due to no fining or filtering. Quite soft, even slightly sweet. But great flavor and perfect with Moroccan spiced chicken. Perhaps an important message: More Pinot Gris/Pinot Grigio should be produced with skin contact!

Didn’t know what to expect from this given the bottle age, but perhaps thanks to the screwcap it’s still fresh, though without quite the sharp edges I recall from youth. Paired well with Ottolenghi chard fritters served alongside miso roasted salmon. I have several more of the 2017 along with some more recent purchases (2022, I think). Terrific value and a delicious wine.
