Need a week-night burger red that isn't Ca Cabernet take a swing at this. Plenty of fruit but no sense of weight. Burgers are filling enough. This wine is lifted and pairs terrifically Nita's cast iron seared Burgers! Outstanding value at $17.59 locally in a mixed case purchase. 13%alc. Going back for more soon!

It’s very nice, has a touch of bitterness and not as much acid as I was expecting, which keeps it from being really great. But I still appreciate it, especially with its 12.5% alcohol.

More impressive than genuinely enjoyable right now. This didn't live up to the praise I've read for this wine elsewhere, and seemed quite a step down from the gorgeous 2016 version. There's a lot of pretty red and black fruit here that comes out with time in the decanter and lightly floral and spicy notes, but it's also more oaky and extracted than the '16. It feels like a medium-weight wine that's trying to be a heavier blockbuster, rather than a more medium-weight claret, and it doesn't work. At the price, I'd much rather just buy Ferriere.

Still great! Especially on PnP, though after a few days it starts to oxidize.

Wow this chard is yummy. Honestly felt a little bit like the little brother of Double 00. Bright Apple with a creamy pistachio nuttinesss to it. Acidic with a velvety finish. Crisp pear meets caramel vanilla

Youll never confuse Far Niente with anything from Burgundy or just about all the better Sonoma Chardonnays. Being from Napa, it hows more brawn to it than any of those. Its very well balanced and complex. Oak, butter, citrus, melons and pears are all in the mix. The finish is very long. This is a very young wine, consumed over two evenings, with the second night better than the first. Its delicious right now, but will be even better in a year or two.

Remarkably good. Good amount of dry extract, good acidity, oak fully integrated. Will drink remaining bottles over the next 2 yrs or so. Old Copain’s age remarkably well.

When Accomasso is on it's on. This bottle was terrific. Stunning aromatics. Deep fruit with just barely beginning tertiary notes.

Same score as a year ago (95) and drinking very very well. Two hour decant and then drank over several hours, plus the last glass a few days later. All were great. This is a big Bevan wine but it shows up as it should and really ahead of the price point. Precise ripe fruit—boysenberries and blueberries, but also a hint of sweet pink grapefruit. Glad I did not have the bottle variation reported by others, all 3 of mine were fantastic.
Also, this had nothing left of what I call the ‘2018-ness’ which is that sense of a big wine with all the right components but they aren’t integrated. This was so smoothly integrated that while I was drinking it I forgot to reflect on the fact that it was a 2018. Gives me hope for my many other Napa ‘18’s that have been previously disappointing.

This bottle showed so overconcentrated (a rubbery impression) that I could not make a relevant tasting note; I detected some fruit underneath. Maybe it is only this specific bottle; I hope to taste this wine again.

Old Guys Lunch @ Ciao Bella Bloomington Mn. CV,DM,JV,MA,DD & TS. Dave D's btl. Thanks Dave! Its bright, minerally & still fairly taut. Tart crisp citrus, spice, brioche w/ hint of stone fruit. Excellent concentration, zip and intensity but fully ready to go. For me, showing a hint of ox that many love. For my palate, drink now before it goes over the edge.

PNP into red wine glass (“Flower” day): Pale garnet to the eyes.

Alluring red dates, preserved wild berries and cherries, flora notes. Whiff of malt that is consistent across the 2022 vintage of this producer in my view.

Bright acidity, superbly mellow texture with almost no tannins.

Amazing with food. Would love to revisit in another 1-2 years in cellar. 94 points.

Decanted for 1 hour. This is a young, fruit forward, plush right bank wine that needs more time in the bottle to take on tertiary maturity. Right now, it tastes like a really good California Merlot blend. If you want it to taste like a right bank wine, then give it at least 5 more years in the bottle. I was surprised by the amount of oak and vanilla sweetness on the finish.

My last bottle, been drinking these since 2014, popped & poured, medium red, lovely aromas of red fruits & forest floor wafts from the Zalto glass, medium bodied with fine tannins & balance, drinking very well now, truly satisfying

PnP. Under DIAM5. Dark ruby red. On the nose, this is meaty, earthy and black-fruted with whiff of menthol and dry herbs. Full-bodied and smooth on the palate. Warm lingering finish. Decent wine. Good value for its retail price (abt 20 EUR).

Tasted at a Bordeaux and pizza event. Excellent but not as good as my past bottles of this, I am guessing that this could have used more decant time (may have been pnp when I tasted). Very red fruited and good acidity, nice with pizza!

PNP into Riedel Yoichi glass (“Root” day): Pale garnet to the eyes.

Aromatics of alluring purplish red organic cherries, smoke, dried florals.

High acidity, with a touch of VA that really adds to the pairing and mellow, light tannins.

Again, largely consistent notes. 94 points.

Christmas Tweet Up for Elgin Wines (2018) (Cape Town): (Tasted Blind): A light yellow colour offering ripe fruits of lemon and uncooked apple strudel yet also strange Elastoplast notes.
Fairly intense on entry with good fruit ripeness. Linear in length, dry but with a slight butter in fridge note (Partial MLF?). The acid is tangy, almost sour, and finished with turmeric-like flavours. All a bit at sea.

Tørr Tokaji laget av delvis botrytiserte druer. Spennende sherry/nøttete dessertvin aroma. Valnøtt, ost, flor, karri, araldit. Litt vandig på smak. Mangler litt intensitet. Men har flott sherry/florpreget ettersmak. Litt uklart bruksområde, til ost?

This was a pleasant surprise. Tasted at a Bordeaux and pizza event and maybe my favorite of the older wines. Very mature classic Bordeaux nose, darker fruit and interesting complexity on the palate. Tannins mostly dissolved, this is drinking at peak now.

Christmas Tweet Up for Elgin Wines (2018) (Cape Town): (Tasted Blind): A mid-yellow colour, the nose is ripe and lifted with aromas of yellow peach, spice and toasty oak, yet with a bit of cordite in the background.
Rich on entry, the wine is bold and expressive with plenty of butter, oak and even a touch of popcorn. Somewhat phenolic in grip, the wine is wide and expansive on the mid-palate and feels rather old-school. The exciting part is that a lovely line of zesty acidity reflects its cool-climate heritage.

wine direct light press from the estate Barbera grapes. Beautiful pale pink color with medium aromas of rose petal, strawberry raspberry and apricot with developed characteristics. Medium [-] acidity and dry on the palate, skin contact tannins, medium intensity flavors of same with additional wet stone and apricot notes, medium body with great mouthfeel and a lingering finish. A very good wine - a great rose for red wine lovers. Drink now would not benefit from aging.

Christmas Tweet Up for Elgin Wines (2018) (Cape Town): (Tasted Blind): A light yellow colour with sea-inspired aromas such as sea shells, empty clam shells, low tide, and seaweed. I picked up curry leaves and coriander to intrigue. The entry has some richness, with damp wool, older barrels, and some felt dishcloth, but I got some lees and weirdly red bait! Not in a great place right now, to be fair, and lacked fruit.

Old Guys Lunch @ Ciao Bella Bloomington Mn. CV,DM,JV,MA,DD & TS. Mark's bt Sadly this was 180 degrees diff than Jim's youthful & zingy '11 Fevre Bougros in the same flight. For a relatively recent release this seemed like it was on its last feeble leg. Creamy & lethargic. Expect early oxidation soon. Drink up or better still return any other btls if the next one shows like this. Just bad luck. Thanks for trying to bring a potential great Chablis Mark.

3 hr slow ox in bottle. Cork perfect - zero sediment. Clear ruby color and muted nose. On palate the wine just seemed flat and lifeless. I have had many of these and last couple have just been off somehow. Do not think it is tainted or otherwise flawed. Possible a late dumb stage? Not sure I can see this wine coming back to where it was a year or two ago - which seems odd. Hoping next one proves me wrong.

Okhuysen-The Netherlands-proeven tussen de stellingen: A concentrated bouquet of fruit and a whiff of butter that continues in the taste combined with a slightly nutty dryness and gentle bitters; this complexity of tastes makes a firm aftertaste.

Christmas Tweet Up for Elgin Wines (2018) (Cape Town): (Tasted Blind): A light yellow colour, the wine is youthful with vibrancy, showing notes of mineral and oatmeal. My first experience with this wine, apparently now owned by Sylvie Cazes since the ‘14 vintage. This was fruit forward but still quite tannic and for me needs a long decant or many more years in the cellar. But I am intrigued and will try again. Tasted at a Bordeaux and pizza event and although glad I could taste it, probably not the best for the pairing (at least not yet)

Christmas Tweet Up for Elgin Wines (2018) (Cape Town): (Tasted Blind): A light to mid-lemon colour with an expressive lifted nose shoeing lemon blossom, stone fruits and attractive citrus. Fruity, and this carries to the palate. This is an attractive wine with good length and depth and showing very well.

Christmas Tweet Up for Elgin Wines (2018) (Cape Town): (Tasted Blind): It is a light yellow colour and youthful. There are plenty of ripe, open fruits, which are fairly expressive, with yellow peach and nectarine complexed by oatmeal and wet concrete. The palate entry is nice and rich, with good intensity and a fair depth. It is an approachable wine that works nicely.

👁 straw yellow

👃 loads of ripe stone fruits, peach, mirabelles, lemon zest, minimal honey and some crushed dark rocks

👄 full- body; everything the 👃 promises plus a great acidity and minerality lift, power &finesse, before a big herbal finish

Great value
