Back up 2006. Roses, dark red fruit, some stinky earth at first that mostly blew off. After a few hours very pretty. Palate dark fruited, still fairly tannic, though a little drying. Good dark long finish, not the best showing but after 2 hours a ton of depth and intensity.

Drunk from 375ml. Decanted for an hour and consumed over the following hour. Tightly wound upon opening but with a nice nose. Not as favourable on the palate. Does it need some more time? Would be better suited to pair with food than drink alone. Prefer the 2019.

Nose: Salted lime juice, apples, flowers, faint diesel.
Palate: Lime juice, lime zest, lime oil, salt. Finish is flowers, apple pulp, and a mineral character. Medium body, shockingly high acidity, just enough RS to balance.

Sadly, an off bottle. Bitten by the 2006 Cappellano bug! Corked, kind of dead and shot.

(quick decant to get rid of the dregs). Medium weight, ripe fruit, hint of spice & pepper, long finish

Previously tasted almost two years ago at the winery, this was my first from bottle. Spice notes (almost cinnamon), earth and red cherry notes on the nose. Close to medium bodied with red cherry and red berry notes continuing to dominate. Spice notes, tannins and acidity on the back and through the finish. Still a bit lighter than typical for this wine but continues to show good fruit and balance. Compared to the winery tasting it feels a bit more complete and fully expressive, in line with expectations. Should show well over the next few years. I'll plan to open my next bottle in Q1 2025.

P&P, modest nose, accessible but on the young side, peppery, silky, good fruit and a long, peppery and herbal finish. Top.

Round, rich, fruity and one dimensional. All in all a bit boring and disappointing, particularly for the price.

Unexpectedly good. Medium plus intensity on nose, medium on palate. Individual red fruit profile not very distinct though. Drink now.

There is nothing to dislike about the wine in my opinion, unless you really cannot stand high alcohol or new oak aromas.
It’s medium garnet already.
There are pronounced aromas red currant and cigar wrapper. I also get aromas of berry bush which I really like. Maybe strawberry jam. There are vanilla and smoke. I think it’s actually in a surprisingly right place at the moment.
On the palate, it’s medium bodied but does have that high alcohol. Tannins are quite low and acidity is medium. To my taste, this works out just fine. Some bay leaf now, strawberry and cigar.
Medium finish.
8-/18, I’ve been stingy recently

Brooding yet still accessible with some air. Sweet, sappy, yet taught red fruited nose with considerable depth and length on the palate. Needs many years to unfurl and it'll probably add a point or two. As I look at market prices, I am left scratching my head, a good, young wine nonetheless but not for what its going for...($600+)

Lily and chamomile, delightfully dry. Somm actually usually pairs it with tonic like gin and tonic, understandable.

Not bad. I'm not sure why it's getting all the bad ratings; I've been drinking this over 3 nights, and every night, it gets better. Typical dark fruits and some berries Under $18 you can't go wrong

This wine at age 6 is already nicely and deeply golden in color. Quite complex for a low-end BA. There are caramel and orange taste impressions. Botrytis is not complex but still a satisfying wine. I think it will continue to develop nicely and becoming more interesting and complex in time. There isn’t much to hurry about with a BA.

This was far better than prior reviews would indicate. It's rather fruit forward, but has depth aplenty. a nice under-$20 quaff.

Gold in colour, adequate acid, chamomile, honey, pear. Easy drinking option. Somm said some grapes are actually BA level. Should be able to keep, but probably not going to be exceptional with further aging. Can drink now.

Bottle started off a bit muddled and disjointed and then after an hour the wine just exploded with beautiful bottles taking me back to my last bottle.

Case worthy and so delicious! Cigar time now!

Pop and pour. On the nose: lovely secondary and tertiary notes; charcoal, blackberry, blueberry, toasty cedar, bbq. On the palate: lovely acidity, red fruit, good density. Wispy tannin on the juicy finish. For my palate, this is excellent, but still young, assuming this btl is representative. No hurry to drink whatsoever.

Brought this wine to Yunnan's (Westgate) for lunch with a very close ex-colleague. We had Braised Chicken Noodles with Dried Chilli, Stir Fried Wild Porcini Mushroom with Dried Chillies, Grilled Pork Trotters with Spices, and Sauteed Cabbage with Dried Chillies.

Ruby red in colour. Beautiful bouquet on the nose. Fragrant, with all the elements in harmony. Beautiful on the outside, but deep down lacks finesse and complexity. Does its job of matching with the food and keeping the diners engaged well.

Will store the other bottle for the next 5 years and wait to see how it evolves.

The 2016 Dark Ark is my favorite Napa Cabernet Sauvignon of all time. Decanted for 3 hours and drank with steak and mashed potatoes from Cowboy Star. Magnificent aromas of black cherry, black raspberry, plum, violets and graphite. Complex full-bodied Cabernet Sauvignon with a palate of black and blue fruit and grippy tannins with a 30-second finish. Upside to 100 points with more time to evolve.

Pale gold in colour with a touch of cream. On the nose the wine is vibrant, with notes of unripe stone fruits.

Complex and finishes with a zing. Excellent QPR. Highly recommended.

Perhaps a bit tart and underpowered to be a true crowd pleaser, but I really liked this rosé. Peach and strawberry fruit, morphing into grapefruit on the long finish. Rounded acidity and a bit of body and texture.

In a blind setting of 12 cabernet francs, I rated this the best wine overall. I did not know at all it was this wine. I though this one would finish in the middle of the 12 wines. Not the most extravagant, in your face, but an amazing balance and elegance that charmed me. It finished 3rd overall in the group. This is really a wine that you should age.

This Pinot displays many of the qualities I love about Willamette Valley Pinot Noir. Red and blue fruit, spice, earth, a bit of funk, and an interesting dose of barnyard funk combine for a multidimensional treat.

Pale lemon with gold undertones. Yellow apple and pear on the nose - warm and autumnal with an undercurrent of minerality. Well-structured with medium+ acidity and a pleasant finish. A lovely wine that makes you want to drink more California Chenin!
12.9% alcohol, 10 months in neutral oak, only 2 barrels produced.

Holding up well since our last tasting in 2020. Still full of fruit, it has mellowed quite a bit since then, with smoothness across the palate and soft tannins on the finish.

Opens up right away, but has a yeasty gassy vibe that takes its sweet time blowing off...

eventually this is gorgeous on the nose: violets, roses, white pepper, purple vitamins, subtle herbaceous notes too...

tart acidity, powdery tannins, but a fair amount of them, this has serious grip

raw and wild, intense inner perfume, raw cacao and nutty lees provide a backdrop to beautiful fresh crunchy fruits and sweet lifted flowers

the feeling here is raw and wild, so o would check up on it regift planning to save more than a few years.

Love it, wish it didn't become so expensive, I don't think I'd want to pay more than $45 for this...

It has been 5 years since my last bottle. More integrated, but still quite a strong wine. Great acid and tannins that are present but not obtrusive. Improved with a grilled filet mignon. Some leafy aspects now, and bright punchy red fruit with ample ripeness. Really excellent. No rush on well-stored bottles. 5 years should see no decline...and maybe more complexity.
