Lovely, but not amazing wine. The colour is now translucent amber red. Mature notes of mushroom, dustiness and cherries. Nice acidic backbone. Nothing out of place, but maybe lacking some presence and complexity.
Red
Dark in the glass

Nose has the heavy floral lift I associate with Petit Verdot. Roses, violets, dark blue/black fruits. Nice to just keep revisiting the nose as it evolves.

Palate is full, dark, silky but prominent tannins, some chewy tannins on the finish that are drying but nice.

Well made and I’m glad I purchased this from Garagiste.
Would buy again.

Definitely better with food. Made me crave oysters so finished bottle next day with them

Floral and salinity primary notes with apple, pear and citrus

Oak spice, blackberry, cinnamon, black pepper. The finish is a little hot and bitter but not astringent. This tastes serious and delicious, could easily be confused for a wine that costs at least twice as much. Might still improve.

Fruit Forward, drinking beautifully

Pale gold, quite translucent, light green under hue. Nose: pear, green apple, blossom. Taste: medium plus body, pear, melon, green apple, lemon zest, candied citrus, amber, custard, pumice. Nice, subtle wine. Medium length. Part of local wine club. Good at that price, perhaps a little light buying a la carte.

If you like bigger wines, this is a bottle for you. A bit over my threshold, but still easy to recognize the quality. I don't know that I would keep this much longer. Showed a bit of alcohol on the palate on opening which faded after a few minutes of air. Was solid for about 2 hours and then started coming out again. Overall an enjoyable wine, but I'm not a buyer.

Outstanding deep & rich cabernet. Fully mature with dark fruit and deeply faded tannins, this wine further elevated a rich, perfectly cooked ribeye. I'm a fan of Foley wines!

Ex-sommelier’s note is basically on. I would only add that it takes about three hours in a decanter to open up. But pretty irresistible once it does.

Medium golden color. Aromas of unripe peach, lemon zest and jasmine. The palate is full of lemon/lime/orange citrus flavor and ginger with additional notes of green apples, melon and pears. Long and lingering finish that is a touch (but pleasantly) salty. Chewy texture with a high level of acidity. Quite complex and well crafted.

In the decanter 30 mins prior to drinking, drank over the next 90 mins or so. Very different experience from my last bottle ~18 months ago. Drank after Kaesler Old Vine, probably wrong order of drinking yes, and perhaps review is somewhat comparative.
Little bit of prettiness to it, perfumed, dry ish red fruits, raspberry, cranberry, faint touch of jube to it. Fuller bodies style of grenache as always, and very smashable. In a good space for me personally, but I prefer fruit profile / primary notes on my grenache and higher alcohol wines.

Well made cocktail wine to me, but after 8+ years can’t see how the heat and glycerine ever get to a balanced place. Not objectionable at the release price, but the cost of these at this point seems to be more about brand and winemaker reputation than value.

Deep purple in color; chocolate, blackberries, and earth on the nose; medium plus acidity; high tannins; tastes like black currant, black pepper, and eucalyptus with a long finish. I think it will improve with a good decant.

After decanting for about 30 minutes, I smell chocolate, black plums, and graphite. I taste black currant, blackberries, eucalyptus, and a hint of black pepper. It's much more in balance. Very tasty.

Method: pop and pour; chilled; Burg glass

Look: medium+ garnet-plum

Nose: ripe cranberry, blood orange, forest floor, light mushroom

Palate: cranberry, underripe cherry, maybe some slight underlying earthiness; long finish blood orange, dried herbs; dry; medium body; medium tannin; medium+ acidity

Overall thoughts: Very nice nose with good mix of fruit and earth. The palate is more fruity, but definitely not too ripe, with a hint of earthiness to make it a bit more interesting. Well balanced and put together. 88 - 89 points. Very good wine.

Disg't 7/2021. 2.5g/l.
Prototypical pink peach color with a moderate stream of big bubbles. I love this mouthfeel and sweetness level that accompany a pleasant profile of red berries and earthy garrigue. Very tasty, yet there is a serious backbone and lovely finish to it all. My first Laherte, but won't be my last. 5+11+18+8= 92

Maybe the last bottle was flawed, this bottle is showing very nice. Pretty nose of mushroom, a sweet spice, leather and cedar. Flavors of dried cranberry and raspberry hint of attic must / dust / damp forest floor. Dry, light tannins that are finely integrated, lingering finish of a mild Chinese five spice like potpourri. A lot of flavors I can’t quite peg but kept it very interesting.

Medium ruby in color, garnet along the edges; camphor, dried red fruit, and tabacco on the nose; high acidty; medium plus tannins; tastes like nail polish remover. I think it was exposed to too much light while spending too much time on a liquor store shelf.

Better than the 2017 vintage sampled and reviewed 3 years ago.....
On nose: toasted french bread, a ghost of vanilla and golden apple.
On palate: all above flavour notes singing, with meyer lemon, stony minerality, hints of nougat and a clean chalky finish....all delivered on a medium , well focused body, at 4 years of age, after a 1 hour decant...old world meets new world, with a civilized 13.5% alcohol reading....may buy again.....I was surprised.

6 hours air enabled flavors, tannin to integrate perfectly. Smoked meats, bbq, red fruits, bacon fat, coffee, iron, spice, plum. Full bodied yet pleasurable as my palate enjoyed the intensity and intricate flavors. Another indispensable rhone masterpiece. This feels like just the beginning with a long life ahead.

On the nose tobacco, nut, wood, licorice and vanilla, a hint of apple? Lots of cherry and berry too. Deep purple, hint of brick at the edges. More deep jammy, berry, hint of vanilla and spice in the mouth. Strong, but fine tannins, chewy almost. Long rich finish. Super petite sirah from old vines that’s holding up very well. Enjoy now, but it’ll be around for quite some time yet.
Red
Classic Mugnier with bright red berry fruits, some hints of damp earth and a touch of herbal tea; floral and fresh with orange peel and a lovely light feel.
Red
Young, but tasty; Vosne spice along red berry fruits and just a hint of violet. Good depth, but still has room to develop further.
Red
First de Courcel in many years; this was quite good and still fairly young; dark ripe fruits with earthy, leather notes. The palate has very good intensity and while the tannins are broad they are well integrated. Should do well for several more years.
Red
Mostly fresh, just-ripe purple fruit, some dark red. Decent concentration and intensity without being jammy. Good QPR.

My last bottle of this, sadly. Double decanted at 3pm and taken to a friend's home for dinner. This was wonderfully expressive from the start and particularly red and light black fruited...black and red cherry, black raspberry, cassis, as well as lots of secondary and tertiary flavors and aromas like, graphite, spice, tobacco, cedar, violets. Very long an luxurious. Great texture and balance. Wonderfully paired with grilled venison medallions and fire grilled beef ribeye and NY Strip steaks. Excellent and probably the best bottle yet, so not at risk of filing due to age.. if cleared properly.

Crystalline purity and lovely freshness for the vintage. Really nice.

awesome stuff, a little smoky reduction at first, but beautiful peach and flowers emerge, citrus too, this is so well balanced, the acidity is strong and buried, sweetness so integrated, long and complex finish, this is so young and will be worth following at least 15 years...

Pale lemon in the glass, moderately aromatic nose, palate is dry refreshing and crisp, fruit tending tart, citrus pith, zest and juice, white grapefruit, lemon, lime, gooseberry, note of kiwi, hints of green herbs, rocky minerality, acidity is high, body medium, finish medium +. Well made, fantastic QPR, hard not to like.

2019 Gérard Raphet Clos Vougeot Clos Vougeot Grand Cru Pinot Noir (view label images)
This was good, one of the better Raphet wines I've had; had a bit more weight and complexity than some prior bottlings. Obviously young, but the fruit was quite nice and the classic Vougeot earthiness was there. The density was nice and this should age well.

This is a fantastic wine for the money and another reminder of why Bordeaux is the best value in wine and a candidate for long evolution. We are almost nineteen years in and this bottle is full of life and energy. Rustic, leafy, cassis fruited. This is a grippy, bold, authentic style of Bordeaux that conjures up pictures of farm family’s dining on great food versus fancy dressed collectors taking notes and critiques. The kind of wine to drink once a week. Bravo. (90)

gorgeous red roses, plus spruce tips, sweet orange, red cherry candy, airy spice... this is just wailing on the nose, put this in the right glass and you will be in heaven... still a little tight on the palate, but this still gives so much pleasure, medium-bodied, fine tannins, beautiful floral and earthy inner perfume, long and classic, gorgeous tart red fruit and delicate spice linger long, this is superb and will improve for many years.... last vintage with Monvigliero in the blend, future legend?

Sad to see this go, but it was tasty. Still plenty of red fruit with some underlying interesting baking spice and smoke; some leaf litter and earth along with just a hint of dried flowers. The palate was elegant and retained nice freshness. Quite enjoyable and pretty much at peak.

Pale gold color. PNP, split bottle over 2 hours. Gunflint, lemon, smoke, white flowers and aromatic dried bay leaf and limestone. The palate is medium bodied, driven, great cut and filled with dry extract, sour lemon, smoke, river rock, limestone, tarragon, gunflint, tart apple, white grapefruit, wood spice. Drinking great, and on a relative basis, aging glacially. 92+ to 93pts.
