Very good, especially for the very difficult vintage. No greenness or thinness here; this is quite rich and opulent, though it does seem to show a fair bit more advanced than I would expect for a wine that is but 12 years old. The mushroomy qualities of meunier are on clear display, and this is quite concentrated and vinous. Probably among the better wines I've had in the vintage and honestly a real surprise.

Double decant for around 15 minutes. The hefty scents of white floral, white-yellow stone fruits and mineral race toward the brim.

On the palate this one saturate the tastebuds with vivid almost yellow stone fruits together with whitish flowers. The structure feel solid with lively acidity and mineral but so smooth with butter like coating. After three hours there are a lot if development into the glass. Especially the buttery coated the fruit taste are more intense than first hour. Feel touch of cool whip feeling through the nose and palate throughout tasting period.

Too good to be white wine outside Puligny-Montrachet !!

Retail $50. Heavy Bottle (). Under cork. My last Arizona wine (at lest for now) and I was more than trepidatious; Petite Sirah is far from my favorite variety. Usually, I find it dark, brooding, and teeth staining. Yes, it is inky magenta in the glass, which and viscous with rather intense blackberry and plum but it is relatively low in alcohol for a PS (13.9%--I said relative) and the palate, while fruity and expressive, is more reserved than an average California PS. Don't get me wrong, this is still full-blown Petite Sirah, it's just not your "typical" *overblown* PS.

Nose initially quite restrained, and needed a little bit of time in the glass, before revealing ripe tropical fruit, flowers, lemon and crushed rocks. Fleshy on the palate, but is kept in balance by the acidity. This wine is more straightforward than what I'm used to for a Raveneau, but delicious nonetheless. Long finish.

A rich and deeper aromatic wine than I was expecting. The wine in mouth more melancholy than most other modern Chardonnays. This wine starts with lemon right away and moves onto creamy notes of cantaloupe melon.
Into the finish the wine turns back to lemon.

Noir fruit, salumi, milk chocolate, flower shop and wet earth. Long and panoramic, with layered, silky tannins. Full ponds with a backend that is polished. Stunning fruit and not in a dumb phase at all; however, this could definitely go the distance. A pure joy. Drink 2026 -.

Bright greenish yellow color. Tense and bright nose of oyster shells, green apple, lemon, slight tropical fruit. Excellent tension on the palate, mineral and with refreshing acidity, with a hint of menthol. Very long finish. This still has years to go.

Abother well made Sauvignon Blanc from Jessup. Once agan the wine is not overly dominate from a acidic standpoint. Mainly ripened (maybe over-ripened) apples. In mouth this is pineapple and sweet lemon and loaded with acidity. Finish is balanced.

This is what I'm hoping for in aged but inexpensive shiraz. Medium-bodied, bright, with good acidity and blue fruits. It's obviously Australian, but really well balanced and picking up secondary flavors. These Aussie wines seem to develop so slowly under screwcap that I could imagine it going another 10+ years. More or less the same over two nights.

Really like this, I was expecting a lot and it delivered. It has that rubber and petrol aroma and flavor that I detect a lot from S.A. Tightly coiled black fruit and good acidic lift. Very unique at this price point.

First night this was medium-to-full-bodied with muted fruits. Tasted blind, I would have guessed a more modern-style Bordeaux rather than a CA cab. Enjoyable, but not a strong QPR. Second night I found it had fallen apart, and gave me little enjoyment, except in the braising liquid for some short ribs. Score based on first night, obviously.

A bit hard for me to read. The fruit is a bit overripe, feeling a bit fat and plush. With lots of air in the mouth it shows beautiful complexity with florals, mint, herbs, and red fruit. Needs a ton more time.

Quite a bit of tertiary development on the nose: light leather, wet leaves, and yes some green pepper too. Fruit is still evident in the mouth as a bit of hard candy at the center, tannins totally resolved, and the finish is long and maybe even a bit overly bright. I like this a lot.

Dominated by brine and olives, just a touch of meatiness, no blue fruits that I could detect. Gained balance over several nights, as it was too acidic on first opening. I find this bottling to lack the complexity and depth of the Halcon estate bottling, but was interesting enough on 2nd and 3rd nights.

PnP, drank over three days. Best on day three. Earth, leather, dark berries. Way too young, though. Clearly tannic, even on day 3. It is enjoyable to drink now. But it seems much better to wait for at least another three years, if not more. It might deserve a better grade then.

One first night, this seemed too astringent, with tannins and acids out of balance with the fruit. I was worried it was past prime. But on the second night it was strikingly better, with tart/crunchy red fruits dominating. Tannins still quite noticeable, but not detracting from the pleasure. Could see this easily maturing further over the next 5-10 years. Score based on second night.

Decanted at home and brought to the restaurant in the cleaned bottle; minor sediment.
Beautiful nose, tannins resolved, lovely pinot fruit. Fully open after 10 minutes in the glass. Very, very slight orange edge; the wine will not die anytime soon but will not get any better either. So much for its premature demise.
Lovely to drink, but it is in the elegant style and lacks the depth and richness of a grand cru; 92 points nevertheless.
BTW: 'Henri de Villamont' is a Savigny-Les-Beaune house name chosen by the owners, a large Swiss firm. Grands Echezeaux is their only grand cru.

Much better on day 2, as on day 1 it was totally (and I mean, really, literallly, totally) shut down. High acid, some minerality, and the subtlest of Chardonnay markers on day 2. My sense is this will drink better in 2-3 more yrs.

I learned about this as an intro Malbec on SOMM TV’s BYOB series. It is a great example of black fruit on the nose, in color and body. There is also some “dust” on the nose and palate evolving to soft tanins on the finish. Enjoyed with teriyaki skirt steak. Very nice QPR.

The most "feminine" Estate Cuvée coming out of L'Aventure ever. Not sure why -- was not even the top 2 coldest years in the last 10. Balanced, lacks the strong tannins of the 2016 Optimus. But I actually like those chewy tannins more than this 2019.

Very fun wine. Black more than red fruit. High tannins with a grittiness, chewiness that remind me of some Barolos and Douro reds, but the acidity is not that high as those, thankfully. Medium acid. The tannins do integrate and the fruit can stand up to it. A very "masculine" wine. Probably will be better integrated in another 5+ years, if the fruit holds. My second favorite red of the night in a mix of L'Aventure, Clos Solène and Benom wines.

Decanted roughly 2 hours then returned it to the bottle to enjoy over dinner out. Was very smooth and elegant, and paired beautifully with short rib ragú pasta and ossobucco. Felt like it lost a little energy 90 minutes in (3.5 hours after decanting) but its equally likely, I suppose, that that was just my fatigued palate. Overall, this was a winner. 93-94

Not a good wine. Years ago it was super tannic, which made me think it needed to age. Now age has exposed its weakness. Alcoholic and flat. A lesson to be learned: Very tannic wines do not necessarily benefit from losing their tannins with time.

A nice cherry red in color. Medium+ intensity of aromas. I get lots of red fruit with some leather, nutmeg, dried red fruit strips (mainly dark cherry). I even get some cherry Garcia ice cream hahaha. Very smooth and light on the palate. Lots of the same flavors as the nose. It's a very elegant wine. It paired well with an A5 Wagyu. Not overpowered or overpowering! I'm sure this would get better with age but I'm not sure how long it would go, maybe to 2032?

Very solid chardonnay that went well with grilled salmon. Some oak, but not overbearing, crisp granny smith apple, not really getting the objectionable acidity that other reviewers have. YMMV.

Loads of minerals and acidity. The acidity overpowers the sweetness and body, causing the balance in the wine to fall off.

GSM blend with heavy Grenache flavors dominating. Great red fruit with low heat, low extract for a New world grenache. Definitely a French touch here in Paso Robles. Had a glass at a tasting of 3 Paso Robles wineries -- L'Aventure, Benom and Clos Solène. This was my favorite.

Grenache 70%, Syrah 17%, Mourvedre 13%. Aged 16 months, 90% of it in neutral oak puncheons and 10% in new oak.
