Cellared since release, decanted for 2hrs...my first time tasting a TTT. INKY and extracted blackberry and pomegranate syrup color...nose kind of shy at first, then explodes with white pepper dusted fresh crushed wild berries...kirsch liqueur, candied dry fruits, molasses chews, deep wood smoke, violet florals...WOW!! Fascinating on the palate as it's totally savory and not sweet at all! Expecting this huge extracted sweet juice like all SQN wines...and it's totally dry and void of sugar? Like when you baked choc chip cookies and you forgot to put in the sugar! VERY intriguing...and it grows on you. In the mouth, everything on the nose, dialed to 11...really velvety smooth like a Petite Sirah...16.4 abv impeccably balanced...really dig the graphite dryness and insane uniqueness in this wine! Cool stuff!

This was presented in a blind tasting of some high-end Champagnes:

1. NV Ulysse Collin Blanc de Blanc Enfers (Extra Brut)
2. 2015 Pol Roger Sir Winston Churchill
3. 2015 Cristal
4. 2012 Leclerc Briant Château d'Avize, Blanc de Blancs, Brut Zéro
5. NV Selosse Lieux-dits Extra Brut Ay La Côte Faron
6. 2007 Billecart-Salmon Cuvée Elisabeth
7. NV Selosse V.O.

2015 Cristal - Love Cristal! This was easily narrowed down to this or the Winston Churchill....how ever the crystal (Cristal) clear bottle top above the bag gave it away! Honestly, totally blind it would have been a coin flip. Similar profile, creamy mousse, tart apple and pear and loaded with minerality. This wine was more Yuzu than lime and slightly more minerality and slightly more rounded (less acidity) than Winnie. 96+ to 97. Also slightly behind the 08 and 13....similar to the '07.

Note: I typically love this style more than the oxidative style when drinking them without food, but with salty foods (think caviar), I actually preferred the oxidative style which went remarkably well with the food!

Deep, very dark reddish-purple in color, essentially opaque. Full, fragrant & attractive nose of dark fruits aromas of cherries, blackberries & dark cassis with overtones of smoky oak/vanilla notes, earthy/dusty, mint/anise, spices, cocoa/mocha, herbs & minerals. Full bodied with a good concentration of balanced & smooth textured, plush & jammy, over-ripe dark fruit flavors of cherries, boysenberries & plums with spices, some dark cocoa, burnt sugar, minerals & oak/vanilla. Lingering finish with a hint of RS? Drinks quite well at present with decanting & extended airing (more than 90 minutes). It is a bit heavy handed with overripe & jammy fruit & thus, appears to be made for those who enjoy overly ripe Cabernets. I question its age-ability given the high 15% alcohol level, but it seems it is made for near term consumption.

From a half bottle I’ve had in the house for a couple of years, so should be representative of a well stored regular bottle in about 5 years lol. Good dark garnet color, not quite opaque, there is some lovely herbal olive on the nose, a hint of creosote, consistent with the palate, which shows off some of the same olive notes, a bit of Jamet-like herbal quality, on a foundation of medium dark raspberry toned fruit. There’s an elegance to the medium weight, though also a bit of rustic character brought in by the herbal notes. Plenty of years ahead of this wine.

No disgorgement date, but I purchased this bottle over a year ago.

Deep golden color. Beautiful nose of membrillo, apricots and just a hint of brioche. Medium-full bodied, this is just loaded with sweet bruised apricot, membrillo, peach and oyster shell. Long, saline finish. I'm so glad I laid this down for 12-15 months, this is much better than I remember the previous bottle being. Drink now 92

Light garnet in color. Intense aromas of spices, dried dark berries, mocha, with a hint of meat and florals. Beautifully integrated palate shows sweet and dense dark red fruits, savory notes, good acidity, resolved tannins and a powerful mix of spice/fruit filled finish.

Opaque black purple bowl turning slightly transparent on the rim. Plums, black berries, crushed dark berries, hints of spice on the nose. Palate is crushed cherries, blackberry jam, chocolate shavings, hints of tobacco and spice. Medium plus tannins and acidity. Still tight but decent with a decant.

Medium brickish ruby in color. Nose takes about 30 mins to blossom and shows off great aromas of red forest berries, dried florals, dark soy, forest floor and hint of spice. Superbly balanced and silky in the mouth showing more sweet and less sour red berries, savory mix of mushrooms and brown sauce, ripe acids and a long earthy and floral finish that is very dense and fans out on the palate. Best showing for this wine.

My first Abreu and this fits perfectly for my palate. Magenta/purple. 5 hour decant. Huge, Muscular, opulent, with dark fruit core, spices, sweet earth, minerals, flint, pencil lead and pebbles. This has it all that I want in a wine. And this is not even their top wine? Whoa! Great balance, long finish!

Tasted after a one hour decant. Dark ruby in colour with lovely aromas of leather & chocolate. On the palate, full bodied juicy & tart black fruit, blackberry/cassis/boysenberry, sweet tobacco, well integrated oak as cedar, floral, chocolate, medium to high acidity, high soft tannins with a long finish to sour cherry, chocolate & minerality. Seven years old, but juicy & fresh, with excellent complexity. Really well done!

A recent auction purchase, so opened with a “caveat emptor” mindset. Still kickin’ with fully mature red fruits, braised meat, and plenty of earth. The best 2000 Grand Cru cuvées might be magical these days, but this fine wine was certainly better 5-10 years ago.

Melon and green apple on the notes, also with notes of lemon peel present. More melon, lemon zest, and apple on the palate with a very slight buttery finish. Perfect amount of fizz to keep things interesting but not steal the show from the delicious easy drinking Pet-Nat!

Deep dark reddish-purple almost opaque in color. Full, forward, & fragrant aromas of ripe fruit aromas of dark cherries, blackberries & cassis with overtones of dusty/earthy & floral notes, herbs, olives, anise, pepper, cocoa, minerals, leather & hints of oak/vanilla in the background. Full bodied with a very good concentration of well balanced & smooth textured, ripe fruit flavors of dark cherries, blackberries & plums with cocoa, herbs, minerals & a note of vanilla/oak. Lingering finish. Drinks quite well at present with decanting & extended airing (90 min+) but should develop further with additional aging at which time it may merit a higher score (93+). Very good QPR. A classically styled & reasonably priced Napa Cabernet in stark contrast to the modern manufactured, overpriced & overripe vanilla/oak frankenwines.
