Complex aromatics of citrus blossom, freshly grated ginger, white peach and chalk. The palate is direct and detailed. It is a deep and chewy white, with plenty of dry extract and a finish of cut and energy.

Solid offering from Ridge. Notes of plum, cherry, vanilla, baking spice. Decanted for 2 hours and then drank over the evening. Not in the class of other Ridge zins, but still a worthwhile choice for a weeknight dinner.

Deep ruby with a hint of tawny, complex and charming aromas of bacon, mushrooms, tobacco, earth, herbs, raspberries, blueberries, prunes, plums, and chocolate. The acidity and tannins are still strong, supporting the strong body. Long finish.

quoting Winefront here

Black cherry, dried raspberry, nuts and toffee, with some toasty coconut oak. It’s medium to full-bodied, full of sweet cherry and spiced oak flavour, some praline too, with silty fine grained tannin, oak kind of obvious, yet cuddly and assuring, and a nutty and sweet red fruited finish of solid length.

Medium ruby, strong fruity and milky aromas of black currants, blackberries, stewed fruits, jam, mints, vanilla, clove, light leather and tobacco. After a period of decanting, it shows a mushroom-like aroma. Lively acidity with soft tannins, can be aged further.

Palate: lemon peel, slate, yellow and white peach & nectarine, honeydew melon, malo funk, pineapple, saline, buttery creaminess, vanilla and sweet baking spices.

Buttery/creaminess and sweet spice profile increases on the nose and palate with decanting while fruit mellows out

PnP. ABV 13%. Clean and subtle nose (probably due to the small generic glass). Vibrant acidity, fine tannins with slight firm/dry mid palate. Somewhere between primary and secondary phase but not awkward. Strong oak barrels spices lingering at backend with exceptional balance. Continues to improve over 2 hours lunch with silky and velvet like mouthfeel, hard to find a better village Volnay.

Opened and decanted 20-min ahead of Tom Kha soup. Dark purple-violet color. Floral nose brings purple lavender, potpourri, blueberry compote, and hints of cinnamon sticks. The palate is medium, round, and textured, bringing fresh strawberries and red cherries mixed with rhubarb, blueberries, black tea, red licorice, and tangy raspberry notes into a mildly tannic finish. This is fresh and lively on the palate with more complexity to unfold, so just entering a nice drinking window. Will be best 2024-2030. Technical score: 93. Enjoyment score: 93.

A big Cabernet lovers Zin. 1st of 2 that I purchased earlier in the year. As others stated, a fairly big Zin but had a nice nose and great flavor profile. Paired well with the Memorial Day BBQ. Enjoyed it and will save the other bottle for a bit to see what develops.

Surprisingly enough it wasn't the abundant mouse that put me off but rather the dank, vinegary acidity.

Just lots of sour (almost...fermenting?) cherries, sweet and sour sauce, and grainy tannins ending in a metallic finish.

I felt like this tasted remarkably similar to Le Reve's Miyabi, which is also made from Dornfelder - maybe it's a Dornfelder thing then.

Deep gold in the glass.

2003 was quite an extreme year for Alsace, marked by a heatwave that saw temps as high as 40 deg C in summer.

The wine seems to reflect this in its entirety, with incredibly ripe fruit and a marked aromaticity. Aside from the typical lychee you'd expect from Gewurz, this gave a ton of ginger and spice, as well as a touch of kerosene.

Despite what felt to me like lots of phenolic ripeness, the wine alcohol wasn't out of wack, and there was enough acidity to stop the wine from coming across as flabby.

Really liked this number.
