March 6, 2024 - No notes taken. I had this wine a few months ago and loved it for its freshness and the intense, pure saffron aromas (rated 95pts). This bottle showed less vibrant and with a bit more tropical fruit and more sweetness. Still, this is a nice Sauternes which should drink well for another decade.

Decanting: Not decanted. I would decant it for at least an hour.

    February 14, 2024 - Drank at serving temp ~~55F
Bought a half bottle at Costco for $28.99

    Appearance:

    Medium golden/amber. Medium intensity
Slow dense tears (sweet, medium/high EtOH)

    Nose:

    Clean.
    Smells "Sweet"
Ripe Pears, Ripe Green Apples on the top note. Some apricots?
    Semi Floral
some tinge of citrus (similar to oranges than lemon) and tropical fruits?

    Palate:

    Somewhat Crisp
    Very sweet High+
    Medium body
    medium(-) Acidity
    Medium Alcohol
    The Alcohol is smooth
"Less sweet apple juice", cleaner and less "sweet sickening" than apple juice (i.e. doesnt taste like pure sugar water like apple juice does)
Probably better described as biting into a very ripe pear.
    Slight candied... apples? pears?

    Finish:

    High intensity, Long length.
    Alcohol is smooth
sweetness and ripe pear flavor lingers to the back for some time before slowly dissipates very evenly.
Ripe pears lingers for a second longer before it evenly dissipates.

    Conclusion:

    92 points

The nose is pleasant with a very obvious "sweet" fruity scent. the palate and finish is almost exactly as what you smell. the finish is something I really and highly enjoyed.
it was a very good length, with great flavors. No unpleasant flavors in the finish present. on the finish, the sweetness is stronger than the pear flavor, before it every cleanly and evenly dissipates. Then the ripe pear flavor is more obvious and pronounced. Which lingers for couple seconds longer before it also evenly dissipates.

DAY 2: Left in standard fridge.

Appears more viscous and thick. color depth seems to have died a tad bit.

on the nose, Ripe pears is even more obvious and pronounced. Some green apples. also smells more fresh and crisp than Day 1. i wonder if thats just a perception, because its colder (fridge temp) than day 1.

on the palate, Fresher. this part might not make sense, the sweetness taste more balanced and well rounded, albeit more sweeter than day 1? unless im misremembering what the sweetness was like on D1. acidity perception appears to be very slightly higher? overall on the palate, the fruit became more pronounced. its very obviously taste like ripe pears with some tinge of green apples, or something like melons this time around

The finish however became much shorter. The fruity sweetness is light and short now. some slight bitter notes on palate and finish. very very slight

overall, i think it tastes even better on day 2. this D2 review is after taking it right out of the fridge ~~40F

    DAY 2 Conclusion: 94 points

February 10, 2024 - Brief notes only: Forest honey and saffron coupled with an array of fruit, partly tropical: quince, dried apricot, passion fruit and lychee. Creamy palate with amazingly vibrant acidity.

February 5, 2024 - A slightly narrow, but otherwise beautifully balanced and precise aroma profile boasting lemongrass, forest honey, saffron spice and walnuts complementing a fruit of dried apricot. A round palate with a creamy texture and nice and crisp acidity. Drinks already very well today but should improve over the next 10 years or so.
