I have spent some expense to construct a proper wince cellar and have stored this wine for 11 years since purchase @ 55F. While the fruit is less obvious than several years ago it is still present, missing is the tannic acidity of youth. It was an excellent accompaniment to a charcoal grilled rib eye and sides this evening. Unavailable in restaurants, we should celebrate the proper provenance of such wines which mature into delightful partners in our meals. If stored properly highly recommended.

Quite nice. I think it could use another couple of years in the bottle.

Deep garnet color. Aromatic cherry, rose, forest/greenery, perhaps lacking a bit of definition and power but very pleasant. The wine shines on the palate, with sweet cherry, black current, bitter orange. Perhaps a bit closed and may do with a few years for the next try. 92 with potential to go higher.

I expected it to be good but even so I was pleasantly surprised. Plenty of fruit but with a lively acidity. It continues to age well.

We first encountered this wine at one of our favorite Italian restaurants and loved it. Since then, we’ve bought a few bottles for home enjoyment and gotten several family members hooked as well. 100% Sangiovese, this is a young, light, and fruity expression. Much better, in my opinion, than similarly priced Chianti Classicos. Just enough tannin, nice integrated acidity, really just a smooth, pleasurable Italian red.

So I have spent a bit of money constructing a temperature controlled wine cellar and have stored this wine for 11 years @ 55F. I find it very mellow but having a depth of character which still presents fruit albeit not as intense as tasted several years ago. What is gone is the tannic acidity of youth, revealing a balance that perfectly accompanies a charcoal grilled rib-eye steak and the accompanying sides. Unavailable in most any restaurant, we should celebrate the patience of proper provenance to allow such wines to be appreciated.

Ballet slipper pink with salmon reflection and red fruit, ruby grapefruit, melon and dried herb aromas. On the palate, it's very fresh with and persistent with strawberry, cherry, quince paste and melon flavors with a medium plus accented with a saline minerality

Solid wine, but probably a bit over the hill. Nothing to note. I have one more bottle. Perhaps it will prove more interesting.

Excellent. Very food friendly, acidic without being tart, herbal, citrus, very pleasant. And a sentimental favorite, since I've visited Weissenkirchen and the Wachau Valley where this was made. What a great wine region and a very good wine.

PnP, consumed over 2 hours. Appearance: Clear, medium lemon-gold. Nose: Clean, medium+ intensity with developing aromas of cantaloupe, ripe pear, lemon oil, and hay with subtle licorice notes. Palate: Dry, medium acid, medium+ intensity, medium body with a creamy mouth-feel, 14.1% abv with developing flavors of pear, melon, and licorice with a medium+ finish.

Balance: Excellent
Length: Excellent
Intensity: Excellent
Complexity: Very Good-Excellent

Who says Sauvignon Blanc can't age? This 7 year old version is drinking wonderfully this evening. Showing some development, but still has a solid acidic backbone and plenty of fruit. Can drink now or over next 2-3 years.

The wife made a lovely soup de pesto, anchored by Rancho Gordo flageolets. With a quick chill, ‘Faun’ was a lovely choice, very nice Zin, that has the same dimensions (ha, can a wine have dimensions?) as a good Beaujolais. Went very nice, Yum

Fantastic QPR. Notably improved since I drank my first bottle (clearly too soon) four years ago. My wife even appreciated this, and she's no CA Cab fan these days. Wish I had bought more.

Opened it in a restaurant in Nuits. Althought it's a 9-year old wine, it showed little evolved sign. Still very youthful. Decanted half of it for 2 hours. Started to show something: ripe lemone zest and some floral notes. On palate it was defintely a tasty wine but not much layers were shown.
The second half of the bottle was kept for 10 hours with cork on. It was defintely sublime for the first pour. It felft like a basket of orchard fruits with ripe citrus mixed with some stones. The floral characteristics are more precise: bit of honeysuckle and gardenia. On the palate, it gained more weight. The acidity is powerful but has some roundness in it. The finish has some sweet sensation on it.

Needs a few minutes to blow off some spritz and this stuff is on! Scents of ripe black cherries, zesty saison, wet gravel, and sweet fresh-crushed slightly savory herbs. Bright and light and snappy on the attack,

Purple and inky. The appearance suggests more than 13.5% alcohol. The nose is dominated by rich vanilla. The palate is dark fruit with some tart notes. Muddled fruit finish. Modest structure and understated acidity. 5+12+15+7=89

Young and primary after an afternoon-long decant. But, oh, the potential ahead. Almost black in the glass, this releases a black-and-red-fruit-basket aroma and lush berries on the palate. There’s oak in there, but, my, how well integrated it already is. Big and balanced, this might be one of our favorite Syrahs from the numbered series. We’ll wait on future bottles and stash the others in the cellar. Drink 2026 to 2036. Outstanding

Pitch dark in the glass, with a nose of sweet plums, blackberries, vanilla. Medium+ acidity, medium tannins to nicely balance that; black fruits - plums and dark cherries - light peppery notes, clove, smoky notes - classic Mourvèdre flavors; ending is medium-long with notes of spice and oak. A decent wine, good for food. Monastrell.

Somewhat austere nose, but I can pick up some red and purple berries, sometimes a little perfume, shrubs.

On the palate the wine is medium or even light-bodied, watery in texture. While there is clearly some acid, there isn't any real zing. Very smooth without being at all flabby. There's the slight tartness and flavour of cranberry, a bit of black plum on the mid-palate (both the skin and the ripe flesh of the fruit). The tannins are also like that of black plum skin, but dusted with powdered cocoa. Obviously from time in oak barrels, but with barely a hint of wood.

I paid $45 for this which is probably high. It is however a well made and balanced wine. Drink now or hold for a few more years. "Good".

One of 3 bottles in a recent shipment. This was the hottest temp bottle out of the box, even with the styrofoam inserts.

Decanted almost 2 hours then back into a clean bottle to take to HMC's for dinner. Slow ox'd another 90 minutes there, so almost 4 hours of total airtime.

Initially, a bit of a 'dud'? Kind of flat throughout. Nice fruit, nice color, nice tannins, just a lot of nice....maybe a 91?

By the end this began to fill out, put on weight and develop more personality. More taste sensations, more acidity coming to the forefront, etc. Clearly, this bottle at least, seems to be in a stage where it needs every bit of 4+ hours of air to shine. The wine really deepens at that point in time. Glad to have two more in the cellar, glad that they weren't as hot off the truck as this bottle was!

Floral notes mingled with fresh meat and mineral notes on nose. Good weight with Blackberry fruit being strongest but cherry on finish with vanilla notes. High tannins, med + acid, and rather muted given the weight. Will see if it opens up with a bit of time.

Just starting to shed its baby fat and many years from its peak, this is a gorgeous Yquem. Moderate spice, big time peach and pineapple nectar, lots of tea leaf, orange peel, and wonderful length. A very tropical rendition, still quite a lot of (delicious) oak, and moderate acidity gives this an approachable lushness now that has not much started to dry down into maturity, yet it is fresh and well held despite its plushness. No regrets drinking this now but it will only improve from here. 97 now with the possibility of more down the line.

Bright and shimmery. Quite mineral with restrained pear, green apple, quince, and papaya flavors. Really special, but very unassuming. The acidity lingers so incredibly long and there's a faint hint of...I'm not sure - maybe lavender or thyme (something that reminds me of herbs de Provence) on the finish. Just a great wine all around.

Well, nothing shy about this Southern Rhone!
On nose: steak tartare, a ghost of eucalyptus, heated iron, and a note of fresh rosemary.
On palate: all above flavour notes clearly present, with Damson plum flesh, cinnamon, pipe tobacco and Kona coffee, rounding up the profile of this full bodied, well balanced red...at 7 years of age , in the middle of a great drinking window....will play well with duck, pork tenderloin and venison.....great expression of Old World craftsmanship.

Full throttle, in your face MH cabernet.....elevated fruit, oak, drying tannins on the back end, and acidity. I guess one could say 'balanced' in that respect, but it's balanced out the wazoo! Opened 3 nights ago, drank half a bottle through the evening then put a Repour stopper in, til taking it to HMC's tonight. Drank much the same, good consistency using the Repour.

For me personally, I am tiring of these burning, over the top hyper fueled monsters. I will let me remaining 3 bottles sit for another year or two or ten and see where they are then. Make no mistake, I like this wine....I just wish it were toned down a notch, or three.

Not a bad wine, but not to our preference. We found it to be rather tart and very little (perhaps no) oak character at all. Quite heavy bodied with a nice mouth feel, and did have some apple and citrus notes. It just didn't seem particularly well balanced, to us. Probably wouldn't buy it again.
