Pours a deep purple/garnet in the glass. Med + intensity in the nose, developing aromas of game, olive, cured meat, camphor, mint, black cherry, fresh and dried black plum, dried fig, smoke, asphalt/tar, oak, vanilla, coffee beans, sagebrush/herbs, raisin and liquorice. In the mouth, the wine is dry (seems like some RS here), full body, med acid, med tannin (fine, silty), high alcohol, pronounced palate intensity, and a long finish. Overall, very good -> outstanding. Can drink now, potential for aging 5+ yrs. Reminds me of Sine Qua Non, but a little less opulent. I do feel that there's a bit of residual sugar here, but it helps enhance the richness and give body to help with the high alcohol which can be felt on the gums. Very minty in the mouth, not so much in the nose. I need more Howell Mtn syrah in my life.
