Introduction

what a treat! with jazz and friendly people.

Flight 1 (6 notes)

White
2008 Patrick Piuze Chablis Terroir de Chablis France, Burgundy, Chablis
88 points
fine nose of grass, white flowers and wet stones. elegant and with a fantastic focus but still open and expressive. great freshness and nerve.
White
2008 Patrick Piuze Chablis 1er Cru Vaucoupin France, Burgundy, Chablis, Chablis 1er Cru
90 points
flowers, lime and some herbal qualities; bone dry and very long finish which stays in focus all the way.
White
2008 Patrick Piuze Chablis 1er Cru Montmains France, Burgundy, Chablis, Chablis 1er Cru
89 points
a tad bit more fleshy and rounded than the vaucoupin, shorter finish but also very elegant and light in touch and still with a lot of nerve and minerality.
White
2008 Patrick Piuze Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos France, Burgundy, Chablis, Chablis Grand Cru
95 points
superfine nose - luxurious musk and hazelnuts and browned butter and great fruit. WHat structure and what nerve. Round and fleshy as the 1er cru from 2009 but racy and fresh at the core like the other 2008's. I don't often feel like applauding an innate object such as a bottle of wine, but this is worth every eloge!
White
2009 Patrick Piuze Chablis 1er Cru Les ForĂȘts France, Burgundy, Chablis, Chablis 1er Cru
86 points
very round, almost with a buttery meursault feel to it; a generous nose to say the least - and I like it. Not as elegant and narrow as the 2008 premier crus, by far though.
White
2009 Patrick Piuze Chablis 1er Cru Montée de Tonnerre France, Burgundy, Chablis, Chablis 1er Cru
90 points
Not sure this has a real chablis feel to it but it\s a great wine: very open and expressive; fleshy with vanilla, hazelnut, white currants, cucumber and hyacinths. Fine finish but mid palate is somewhat hollow. This has time to come together so should be fine, but really not as much racy freshness at the core compared to 2008's

Closing

2008s are awesome: tight focus yet expressive. 2009s are too young too give final verdict on, but definitely are more charming and soft, with much less focus and backbone acidity. Overall, this producer deserves all the hype!
