Introduction
We got our tasting group outside and tried some of the '09 Cru Beaujolais (and one Village). All wines were splash decanted or decanted for a few hours. Most wines were much, much better with airtime. We tasted each wine blind and then unveiled them one by one. We had several different cheeses and bread to sample with the wines. We voted for our top two wines and the top 3 in order were the Chermette Brouilly Pierreux (4 #1s and 0 #2s), the Chateau de Lavernete "Le Clos" (2 #1s and 1#2) and the Chermette Fleurie Les Garants (0 1sts and 3 #2s). Unfortunately, the Marcel Lapierre Morgon was corked - we opened another bottle but it did not have time to breathe. All tasting notes below are mine and not the groups. It was a shame the 1st bottle of the Lapierre was corked as the second bottle was beautiful. All of these wines were great with food. The Chermette Brouilly and the Lapierre Morgon (2nd bottle) are special wines and were very enjoyable with dinner that evening. Thanks to everyone who attended.

2009 Château de Lavernette Beaujolais-Villages
France, Burgundy, Beaujolais, Beaujolais-Villages
1st wine in tasting. Got a splash decant. Very fruity - strawberry / floral on nose. On palate, strawberry / raspberry. Light body, medium acids & very easy to drink - short+ finish. 2 of 6 tasters voted this as wine of the tasting. Tasted later and had gained some body.89-90 range.

2009 Domaine Rochette Côte de Brouilly
France, Burgundy, Beaujolais, Côte de Brouilly
Wine #2 in in Tasting. On nose, very floral, brighter fruit than wine before (raspberry / dark cherry). On palate, high acids, medium body. Raspbery / strawberry - medium finish. Preferred this wine to Lavernette. 90+.

2009 Pierre-Marie Chermette Fleurie Les Garants
France, Burgundy, Beaujolais, Fleurie
Beautiful fruit on nose & palate. Smokey / strawberry / red currants / vanilla (touch of banana peel as well). Medium body / medium acids - palate consitent with nose + plums. Long finish. Some tannins noticeable on the finish. Delicious wine. 90+ (I preferred the LaPierre Morgon and the Chermette Brouilly to this wine).

2009 Pierre-Marie Chermette Brouilly Pierreux
France, Burgundy, Beaujolais, Brouilly
Wine of the tasting (#1 for 4 of 6 tasters). Very structured wine. On nose, smokey / black cherry / strawberry / touch of orange peel. Full bodied wine. Vibrant acidity - black raspberry / blackbery / saline - long finish. 91++ Would buy again - excellent, excellent QPR.
Red
2009 Marcel Lapierre Morgon
France, Burgundy, Beaujolais, Morgon
TCA - second bottle of the night had a touch of TCA but the first bottle was undrinkable.
Flight 2 (1 note)

2009 Marcel Lapierre Morgon
France, Burgundy, Beaujolais, Morgon
Notes after bottle being open for 4 hours. On pop & pour nothing there. Afer 4 hours, black cherry / tobacco / saline / blackberry on the nose. Medium + body. Black raspberry / black cherry / tobacco on palate with long finish. If I did not have the luxery of tasting this wine over a number of hours I would have written it off. Lots of potential and showing better than a few months prior - very suprising that this is a beaujolais - shows potential of the region. 92+ points.
