Introduction

snipes was in town on business so wine+art, PURPLE and myself got together with him last night for a few bottles and some great company. Here are the results:

Flight 1 (5 notes)

Rosé - Sparkling
N.V. Pierre Péters Champagne Brut Rosé for Albane France, Champagne
93 points
WIML93-94+

Bottled indicated the wine was from the 2008 vintage, disgorged in 2010.

Tasted non blind. Opened and served immediately. Visited over about a two hour period.

Red rose color in the glass, clear looking throughout with tiny yet steady beading. Nose of black raspberries, black berries and black cherries that carry straight through to the palate in that order. Bright acidity, full bodied. Drink or hold. Lovely.
White
2005 Didier Dagueneau Pur Sang France, Loire Valley, Upper Loire, Pouilly-Fumé
94 points
WIML94-95

Tasted non blind. Opened and served immediately.

Light yellow color in the glass, clear looking throughout. Nose of matchstick, lime, ocean breeze and wet stones. Flavors of lime, peach and dried pineapple. Bright acidity, medium to full bodied. Drink or hold.
White
2003 Nicolas Joly Clos de la Coulée de Serrant France, Loire Valley, Anjou-Saumur, Savennières-Coulée de Serrant
93 points
WIML93

Tasted non blind. Opened and served immediately. Followed over about two hours.

Yellow color in the glass, clear looking throughout. Nose of lychee, apricot, basil, camphor and a dash of brown spice. Flavors of lychee, waxy pears, kumquats and apricot core. Medium to bright acidity, medium to full bodied. Drink or hold.
Red
1998 Villa Al Cortile Brunello di Montalcino Italy, Tuscany, Montalcino, Brunello di Montalcino
92 points
WIML92+

Tasted non blind. Opened and served immediately. Followed over about two hours.

Garnet to perhaps dark garnet color in the glass, fairly clear looking. Nose of leather, earth, black berries, black cherries and a hint of camphor. Flavors of black berries and black cherries. Medium to bright acidity, medium tannins, medium to full bodied. Drink or hold.
Red
2001 Domaine Pierre Usseglio & Fils Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée de mon Aïeul France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape
WIMLNR

Tasted non blind. Opened and served immediately. Followed over about two hours.

Garnet to dark garnet color in the glass, clear looking throughout. Nose of dried herbs, thatch, berries, a hint of plums and a hint of anise. Flavors of berries, currants, plums and cherries. Bright acidity, medium to firm tannins, medium to full bodied. Hold. Just a baby and many good things to come to those that wait. No rating right now but my guess is with plenty of more time in the bottle this will easily eclipse the WIML94-95 point mark.
