Flickinger Wines Ten Years After Tasting: 2001 USA Cabernets and Blends

Their store in Wilmette, IL

Tasted April 18, 2011 by jlgnml with 948 views

Introduction

This was the first of several tastings around the 2001 vintage. Tonight was the USA Cab and blends, to be followed up by First Growths, Grand Cru Burgundy, CdP, Grand Cru Red Burgandy and Barolo. Tonight was difficult because all of the wines were fantastic 18.5 out of 20, or 92 out of 100. They began to develop some more slowly than the others. Lots of depth in the glasses and these wines will last for a while. Great evening.

Flight 1 (10 notes)

The order of the wines drunk, double blind, decanted 2 hours before serving. The order of the finish was Ridge, Beringer, Scherrer, Peter Michael, Grace, Shafer, Togni, Phelps, Dunn and Quilceda.
