Introduction
Excellent tasting of mature Northern Rhone wines, conducted by Eran Pik (Tzora Winery)
Flight 1 (8 notes)
White
2007 E. Guigal Crozes-Hermitage Blanc
86 points
Straw-yellow color, almost transparent. Very closed, with only hints of minerals in the nose – nothing more. Oily body, flabby, bitter.
Red
1999 Alain Graillot Crozes-Hermitage
91 points
Purple with hints of brown. Very expressive in the nose, with a lot of fruit mixed with dust and earth. Light body, still very tannic. The nose mach better than the palate, yet a very good wine.
Red
2003 J.L. Chave Sélection St. Joseph Offerus
92 points
Very expressive and complex nose, with red and dark fruits, leather, earth, dust. Light to medium bodied, with still predominant acidity, taking in account that '03 was a hot year. . Also predominant, silky tannins. This one should cellar well for many more years.
Red
1999 Delas Frères Hermitage Les Bessards
93 points
Bright purple-red color. A powerful, superb nose with a lot of fruits and earth. Full bodied, good acidity, predominant acidity. Excellent balance. It has a long way to go .
Red
2000 Barossa Valley Estate Shiraz E & E Black Pepper
93 points
Tasted blind. It was the "Joker" of the tasting. Because of the predominant sweetness, it was clear that it is not from the Northern Rhone. Most of the participants guessed it was a 10 years old CDP or 10 years old Barossa. It has an excellent nose with a lot of fruits dust and earth aromas. A lot of sweetness in the palate, full bodied, medium acidity, round and very well balanced. Excellent.
Red
1998 Paul Jaboulet Aîné Hermitage La Chapelle
92 points
Purple color, with hints of brown and white shoulders. Excellent and complex nose – fruit, vanilla, earth. Medium bodied, rough tannins.
Red
2001 M. Chapoutier Ermitage Le Pavillon
94 points
Great wine! The best of the tasting. Powerful and young, a superb nose with fresh fruits, earth, dust. Medium to full bodied, freshness in the palate too. Still a lot of acidity and tannins, very well balanced. It can cellar for a few more years. E x c e l l e n t.

1998 Rene Rostaing Côte-Rôtie Côte Blonde

Bright purple color. Excellent nose with fruits and perfume. Medium bodied, with velvety tannins and well balanced acidity. Still young!!!
