Gaddi's

Flight 1 (2 notes)

Red
1992 Domaine de la Romanée-Conti Grands-Echezeaux France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Grands-Echezeaux Grand Cru
91 points
mature nose of tea leaves, truffles and mushrooms, becoming more exotic towards the end with a touch of lychee! a little thin on the palate which is understandable given the vintage.
Red
1988 Domaine de la Romanée-Conti Romanée St. Vivant France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Romanée St. Vivant Grand Cru
88 points
Julian did warn that the bottle endured a "rocky ride" on the way, which explained the presence of sediment in every glass! Notes of leather and sweet earth, with a hint of soy sauce which I didn't enjoy. Tannins a little harsh at the end.

Flight 2 (2 notes)

Red
1986 Château Latour Grand Vin France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac
92 points
rich and powerful. sweet nose of cedar and lead pencil. good structure and balance, but perhaps not the most charming of Latours.
Red
1986 Château Haut-Brion France, Bordeaux, Graves, Pessac-Léognan
95 points
fabulous nose of cigar, coffee and dried herbs. very seductive. mellow on the palate. at its absolute peak.
