Flight 1 - "Pre" Whites (served double blind) (2 notes)

White
2007 Rex Hill Chardonnay USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley
87 points
Ripe lemon, chard nose. Medium bodied with high acidity. Tart lemon, lime and lemon sherbet. Tongue tingling acidity, which normally I enjoy but it was a bit out of balance here. Guessed village Chablis from a high-acid year like '07.
White
2010 Alois Lageder Müller-Thurgau Italy, Trentino-Alto Adige, Alto Adige, Alto Adige - Südtirol
88 points
Big, pretty, fruity nose with peach and tropical fruits. Light to medium bodied with medium acidity. Peach and minerals with nice acidity. Guessed Oregon Pinot Gris.

Flight 2 - "Pre" Reds (served double blind) (3 notes)

Red
2009 Banshee Pinot Noir Santa Lucia Highlands USA, California, Central Coast, Santa Lucia Highlands
84 points
Roasted strawberry and cherry nose. Medium bodied with medium+ acidity. Ripe black cherry fruit with heat. Guessed warm climate Cali Pinot.
Red
2009 Cameron Hughes Petite Sirah Lot 252 USA, California, North Coast, Mendocino
86 points
Reticent nose, some violets. Medium to full bodied with low to medium acidity. Black: plum, pepper and berry. Medium tannins. Guess Cali Syrah.
Red
2007 Marynissen Estates Cabernet Franc Canada, Ontario, Niagara Peninsula, Niagara-on-the-Lake VQA
Lots of sediment in my glass so no score on this one. Funky, mature, forest floor nose. Medium to full bodied with light to medium acidity. Brambly fruit, raspberry and blackberry. Medium+ tannins, probably due to the sediment.

Flight 3 - 2002 Oregon Pinots - Flight 1 (served single blind) (6 notes)

Red
2002 Chehalem Pinot Noir Reserve USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley
89 points
Reticent nose, some cherry and forest floor. Light bodied with high acidity. Tart strawberry and raspberry with baking spice. Acidity is prominent but not out of balance. (my 2nd, group's 2nd - Flight 1)
Red
2002 Nicolas Potel Bourgogne Maison Dieu Vieilles Vignes France, Burgundy, Bourgogne
84 points
Funky, sour cherry nose. Light to medium bodied with low to medium acidity. Forest floor, sweet cherry and wood. Light but drying tannins. (my 5th, group's 6th - Flight 1)
Red
2002 Siduri Pinot Noir Muirfield Vineyard USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley
86 points
Sweet cherry, vanilla and caramel. Light to medium bodied with medium acidity. Sweet cherry and vanilla. Too much oak influence for my taste but not a bad wine. (my 4th, group's 4th - Flight 1)
Red
2002 Adelsheim Pinot Noir Elizabeth's Reserve USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley, Chehalem Mountains
88 points
Bretty nose. Medium bodied with medium+ acidity. Sweet cherry fruit, clove and a hint of black tea. Nice balance and freshness. Might have been my first without the brett. (my 3rd, group's 1st - Flight 1)
Red
2002 Patricia Green Cellars Pinot Noir Estate Yamhill County USA, Oregon, Yamhill County
89 points
Reticent nose, bit of strawberry. Light to medium bodied with medium acidity. Mix of tart and ripe strawberries, some tea notes. Nicely balanced. (my 1st, group's 3rd - Flight 1)
Red
2002 Chehalem Pinot Noir Ridgecrest Vineyards USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley, Ribbon Ridge
flawed
Chemical, v.a. nose. Tart and shrill palate. Don't know what the flaw is but for me, this was undrinkable. Others disagreed. (my 6th, group's 4th - Flight 1)

Flight 4 - 2002 Oregon Pinots - Flight 2 (served single blind) (6 notes)

Red
2002 Joseph Drouhin Beaune 1er Cru Grèves France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Beaune 1er Cru
88 points
Spicy, slightly bretty nose. Light to medium bodied with medium acidity. Delicate sweet cherry fruit, earth and bit of black tea. Very nice but the brett detracts. (my 4th, group's 5th - Flight 2)
Red
2002 Ken Wright Pinot Noir Carter Vineyard USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley, Eola - Amity Hills
87 points
Bretty nose. Light to medium bodied with medium+ acidity. Mix of tart and sweet raspberry fruit. Nice acidity. Tasty wine, just bretty. (my 5th, group's 3rd - Flight 2)
Red
2002 Cristom Pinot Noir Louise Vineyard USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley, Eola - Amity Hills
90 points
Pretty nose of ripe strawberry and raspberry. Light to medium bodied with medium acidity. Tart raspberry and cherry fruit. Really nice. (my 2nd, group's 2nd - Flight 2)
Red
2002 Ken Wright Pinot Noir Shea Vineyard USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley, Yamhill-Carlton
89 points
Reticent nose that opened up to show some black cherry fruit. Light to medium bodied with medium+ acidity. Sweet cherry supported by great acidity. Nice fruity finish. (my 3rd, group's 1st - Flight 2)
Red
2002 Ken Wright Pinot Noir Wahle USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley
91 points
Pretty red cherry nose. Medium bodied with medium acidity. Mix of ripe and baked cherry sprinkled with cinnamon and clove. Nice depth of fruit and great balance. My WOTN. (my 1st, group's 4th - Flight 2)
Red
2002 Ken Wright Pinot Noir Nysa Vineyard USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley
87 points
Cherry pie and vanilla nose. Medium bodied with low to medium acidity. Mix of ripe and baked cherry with more vanilla. Not bad, just a little oaky for my taste. (my 6th, group's 6th - Flight 2)
