Introduction

T, K and his great new girlfriend D, and J all gathered for an afternoon of banter, bubbles, wine, and delish eats. Starting with apps at the house and ending up at Brian's Pourhouse.

Chef John at Brian's threw down the delicious apps and a peach pork ragu that was to die for.

Great times, interesting wines, and a lot of blathering... the Kilikanoon Was clearly the WOTN.

Flight 1 (10 notes)

Rosé
2011 Syncline Rosé USA, Washington, Columbia Valley

I also liked the minerality. Got a bit of urethane peeking out during the mid palate attack, but finishes with nice citrusy flavors. Goes best with food. Definitely a curve ball rose.
White
2011 Syncline Grenache Blanc Boushey Vineyard USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Yakima Valley

Pear bubblegum, cantaloupe, flowers crisp wet air on the nose. Palate has nice acidity with mild muted flavors of melon, pear. Finishes with muted flavors and crisp citrusy acidity. Nose more interesting than palate.

Found out later that it had been opened, recapped, and stored in fridge for 2 weeks!! Wow. Great structure despite its recent life.
White - Sparkling
N.V. A. Margaine Champagne Premier Cru Extra Brut France, Champagne, Champagne Premier Cru

Red
2007 St. Innocent Pinot Noir White Rose Vineyard USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley

This bottle may have had a bit of a VA problem. While it improved dramatically, with air, it did not have the same great balance as I've enjoyed previously. Still excellent, but not quite up to par with previous experiences.
White
2009 Hanzell Chardonnay USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Valley

Beautiful Chardonnay
Red
1999 Kilikanoon Shiraz Oracle Australia, South Australia, Mount Lofty Ranges, Clare Valley

Wow. Wine is perfectly integrated, much more so then my previous bottles. Gorgeous mature feminine Shiraz fruit now has a Nebbiolo quality. Improved over the course of the evening. Lots of sediment -stand her up for a few days and decant carefully.

This bottle has years ahead of it. Nice job trey. Did not get any of Hollowine's flaws.

2005 SYZYGY Syrah USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Walla Walla Valley

Opened and immediately poured. This wine has got a few years of life left. Medium dark fruit, savory flavors, and chunky textures.
Red
2004 Kilikanoon Grenache Prodigal Australia, South Australia, Mount Lofty Ranges, Clare Valley

Dessert in a glass. Not much to add from my previous note. Obvious American oak on this one, but, I like it.
