August 29, 2020 - I last had this 12 years ago- it has developed into an interesting wine- still sort of tastes like biting into a raspberry donut or coulis but it has more acidity and tannins than I remember so that it is no longer cloying with saccharine- it is full bodied and seems like it can age for longer... no heat so that was a big positive... interesting nectarine and citrus notes in the middle and a superlong finish. I really enjoyed it.

March 15, 2020 - This was my last bottle of the Prodigal. i was a bit worried when the cork disintegrated upon opening but I was rewarded for my efforts. The wine had an almost cloying nose of stewed cherries and violets. Upon tasting, there was a good balance of acidity against the seamless integration of the 16% alcohol and fruit to produce an enjoyable, jammy wine.

May 13, 2016 - An Evening of Aussie Legends to Inaugurate Our New Wine Tasting Group (A Relatively Secret Room in Buellton, CA): Another first encounter for me. Surprisingly pale and tawny colored in appearance. Straightforward nose of sweet red berries. Less concentrated in the mouth than I was expecting, with ripe strawberry notes dominant, along with very evident heat. While not my style as such, the wine worked well, and the ripeness gave way over time to more nuanced herbal notes alongside the fruit.

December 31, 2015 - Incredible QPR. Best bottle yet, drinking as well as it can. Unmistakably Australia on the nose, shows age in color as it is fairly light with very reddish hues. On the palate, gorgeous wild raspberry, white chocolate, loam and spice. Wow.

November 2, 2014 - 18th Annual Lyon 10 Year Retrospective (Lyon Down Inn): First wine of the tasting is always hard...blackberry, raspberry, earth, and a touch of leather. Nice depth, texture, and a little acid on the finish kept it lively. 91 on day 2.
