Introduction

standard bun fight...

Flight 1 - Parker Estate (2 notes)

Surprisingly poor showing from an otherwise good producer...

Red
2008 Parker Coonawarra Estate Cabernet Sauvignon Terra Rossa Australia, South Australia, Limestone Coast, Coonawarra
Oak water.
Red
2008 Parker Coonawarra Estate First Growth Australia, South Australia, Limestone Coast, Coonawarra
Black concentrated jammy fruit, vanilla and coconut. Far too young.

Flight 2 - Farr Rising (4 notes)

The Pinot was good...

Rosé
2012 Farr Rising Saignée Australia, Victoria, Port Phillip, Geelong
Pale pink with some tears. Medium minus Aromas of generic red fruit, cream soda and slight sweet spice. In the mouth the wine is surprisingly dry and savoury with red fruit notes but that finishes warm, bitter and slightly astringent. Nah.
White
2011 Farr Rising Chardonnay Australia, Victoria, Port Phillip, Geelong
Pale lemon green. Aromas of toast, slight apple, touches of stone fruit, slight buttery notes. In the mouth there is some phenolic grip on the front of the mouth with stone fruit, oak, butter and sweet spice. The wine is a bit warm but lacks acidity. good none the less.
Red
2011 Farr Rising Pinot Noir Geelong Australia, Victoria, Port Phillip, Geelong
Pale ruby, clear with some tears. On the nose the wine has aromas of spice, sulphur, slight red fruit - strawberries, leather, leather and clove and some bacon notes. In the mouth the flavours are tinged with smoke over red fruit, spice and white pepper. the spice carries on the long finish and there is the introduction of a certain stalkiness. Nice but a little disjointed.
Red
2010 Farr Rising Shiraz Geelong Australia, Victoria, Port Phillip, Geelong
Surprisingly pale purple coloured. Aromas of green and black pepper over black berry and currants. There is also some slight oak spice. More of the same in the mouth - it's nice but the finish is rather short.

Flight 3 - Clonakilla (4 notes)

White
2012 Clonakilla Riesling Australia, New South Wales, Southern New South Wales, Canberra District
pale lemon green. Plenty of acid, fruity and a touch of residual sugar. Very nice.
White
2011 Clonakilla Viognier Australia, New South Wales, Southern New South Wales, Canberra District
Pale lemon. Ginger spice, phenolic grip on the front of mouth, sulphur and barnyard stink as well. Nice
Red
2011 Clonakilla Shiraz O'Riada Australia, New South Wales, Southern New South Wales, Canberra District
Purple with some legs. Medium plus aromas of blackberry over black and green peppercorns, leather, sweet tobacco and spice. In the mouth, though, the wine is bitter and astringent, bit rubber, bit nasty, but unpleasant. Nah
Red
2011 Clonakilla Shiraz Viognier Australia, New South Wales, Southern New South Wales, Canberra District
Deep purple. Aromas of bacon, spice, green peppercorn, roses, slight black berry. In the mouth there is medium plus acid, spice, oak, pepper but it is a touch dull and muted at this stage.

Closing
