Flight 1 (5 notes)

Red
2001 Whitehall Lane Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve USA, California, Napa Valley
96 points
This was absolutely amazing. Tasted blind alongside 14 other great wines. This won its flight easily and was probably #2 overall.
Deep, rich, creamy, hits big everywhere in the mouth and a long, long finish. Perfect time to drink this, but then again still seems to have lots of life left.

similar to prior note. Spectacular.
Red
1992 Philip Togni Cabernet Sauvignon USA, California, Napa Valley, Spring Mountain District

Blind tasting. ID'ed this an old napa cab.
The incredible nose was it for me - all over the place, so interesting - earthy, fruity, layered and rich, complexity to spare.
Unfortunately, it was a bit thin and showing its age on the palate.
Still, quite enjoyable and the nose was a real treat.

1990 Ridge Monte Bello USA, California, Santa Cruz Mountains

Popped & poured. Would have expected more from this - tasted blind and it did not show well against others in its flight. Some nice smoky aromas but the palate faded rather quickly with some sour/ tangy flavors. still fairly tannic. Not sure what went wrong here.
Red
1980 Sterling Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve USA, California, Napa Valley
flawed
oxidized

Red
1999 Pride Mountain Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon USA, California, Napa Valley
98 points
Tasted blind among some outstanding wines, this was the best wine of the best flight.
When revealed as Pride - not even reserve- we were all shocked...
I'm guessing this is just a very good wine in a great place right now.
Blind notes -glass - young. purple.
Nose- cassis. cab. fig, dark fruit. nice!
Mouth - young. big. Complex berry fruit, tobacco, integrated fine tannins. LONG finish.
Red
1995 Cakebread Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon USA, California, Napa Valley
95 points
tasted blind vs 14 others.
This is in a really good place.
Still young in aroma, flavor and taste.
Big but soft tannins, long finish.
Red
2004 Clarendon Hills Cabernet Sauvignon Brookman Australia, South Australia, Fleurieu, Clarendon

nose - baked strawberries and licorice
mouth - rich, creamy, fruity, great structure.
Couldn't stop drinking this one.
