Med yellow/gold. Smells fresher than it looks. Citrus, flowers, honey. Velvety texture is lovely. Very good and still fresh.

Red
2007 Domaine Giraud Châteauneuf-du-Pape Tradition France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape
91 points
Medium red. Skunk? reduction?, finally it is licorice and alcohol on the nose. Faintly fruity. Palate is surprisingly intesnse fruit. This is tight, compact, but not at all hard. 30% syrah, which explains the nose. Later the nose changes to toasted spices/ cardomon/coriander.

Med red with sediment. Green herbs, wood, some oxidative note that disappears with swirling. Enourmously flavoured. Not heavy nor showing much alcohol. Plushness with some grip, too.

Dark red. Some pips, red and black berries - a nervous nose. Fresh and vibrant fruit/acid. Terrific depth. Well integrated. Long, mineral finish. This is beautiful and should be for another decade.

Red
2007 Domaine du Vieux Télégraphe Châteauneuf-du-Pape La Crau France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Med dark red, garnet edge. Oxidative notes dominte. Tomatoe paste. Plum fruit inthe mouth. Very silky. Tasting leader says it is in a bad time and to give it 5+ years. I think it is aging quickly and will soon be crap.

30% syrah, 15% Mourvedre. Med dark red, a little dull. Cranberry jelly nose. It is a flavour bomb - terrific concentration without unecessary weight. Minerality and firm tannin

Med dark red. Licorice, red fruit. Complete, floral, very rich with fruit. Sweet plummy fruit. Med to long fruit. Very silky, mineral. Wonderful, not at all heavy. Really opens up in the mouth. So well integrated.

Red
2007 Domaine la Barroche Châteauneuf-du-Pape Signature France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape
91 points
Intense nose of black fruit and graphite. Terrifically forward fruit and it's long. There is a green note and firm tannin to it. All told, this is very attractive.
Red
2007 Domaine du Pégau Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Réservée France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape
84 points
Med red, garnet edge. Slightly metallic, baked fruit and tomato paste nose. Baked cherry pie filling palate, VA. Drying out.

Everyone in the room agreed this is a unique wine. Some suggested it was outstanding and should be celebrated for its uniquness (certainly, Parker does). I would celebrate it except I do not enjoy the smell of tomato paste in my wine. This wine shows the effects of 1 or more rampant infections. I have 30 bottles of various vintages in my cellar, so this is getting personal!

Reference my note on 2006 Pegau on Feb 13, 2014.

Closing

This was an very good learning experience for me:
1. White CdP ages nicely and I should drink more of it!
2. Six or 7 years is generally a good time to start drinking these wines, at least from a strong vintage.
3. The alcohol was under control and the wines were in balance.
4. I generally prefer the wines with more syrah and mourvedre.
5. Some of the famous Parkerized names, specifically Vieux Telegraph and Pegau were not to my taste.
6. There are some good values to be found.
