Flight 1 (2 notes)

White
2004 Peter Jakob Kühn Oestricher Doosberg Riesling Großes Gewächs Germany, Rheingau
83 points
Colour: Dark golden, amber colour.
Nose: Black tea, a bit of apple juice, pumpernickel and a bit of honey. But nearly completely oxidised.
Palate: Flat, nearly no acid, pallid. This wine is done.
White
2004 Trimbach Riesling Cuvée Frédéric Emile France, Alsace
91 points
Colour: Light, intense golden colour
Nose: A bit closed, opened up after some time in the glass. A bit of mango, plastic and a strong aloe vera aspect. Very subtle nose.
Palate: Nice acidity, salty, tension & power is there on a good level but it didn´t blow me away. Medium bodied. Good lenght.

Flight 2 (2 notes)

White
2004 Emrich-Schönleber Monzinger Halenberg Lay Riesling Großes Gewächs Germany, Nahe
94 points
Colour: Neon-colored, green touch.
Nose: What a wonderful nose this is. Super complex mix of yellow stone fruit, unripe apricot, a bit petrol, a lot of cold smoke and a hint of bacon. Very "dark", stoney nose simultaneously expressive.
Palate: A lot of saltiness, medium bodied, again stone fruit, very concentrated, deepth and medium+ finish.
White
2004 Dönnhoff Hermannshöhle Riesling Großes Gewächs Germany, Nahe
93 points
Colour: Intense light golden colour.
Nose: Lean, elegant nose with aromas of lemon, a bit of white peach but not super strong on the "fruit side". Then some honey & a stoney component come across.
Palate: Very elegant, light but in a good way. Clear & focused with a tremendous potential left.

Flight 3 (2 notes)

White
2004 Wittmann Westhofener Morstein Riesling Großes Gewächs Germany, Rheinhessen
94 points
Colour: Intense light golden colour
Nose: "Dark" nose with a lot of smoke & minerality alongside some vanilla, almonds, mirabelle and some vegetal notes after some time in the glass.
Palate: Tension & power is there. Brighter shoulders than the two wines from the Nahe we had the flight before. Slightly bitter on the back-end which is lovely. Long finish. A very "complete" wine.
White
2004 Weingut Keller Hubacker Riesling Großes Gewächs Germany, Rheinhessen
93 points
Colour: Lighter in colour than Wittmanns Morstein.
Nose: Unripe white peaches, some grapefruit and a light phenolic component mixed with a great smokiness.
Palate: Very lush wine with even brighter shoulders than the Morstein. A lot of great sea salt on the mid-palate. Still potential left. Great acidity.

Flight 4 (2 notes)

White
2005 Georg Breuer Rüdesheimer Berg Schloßberg Riesling Germany, Rheingau
96 points
Colour: Slightly neon yellow colour.
Nose: Holy moly what a NOSE!!! Best in this tasting by far. Firstly very expressive with a lot of exotic fruit like mango, papaya and ripe peach then herbs like melissa, wild rosemary and some banana juice mixed with cherry juice. (KiBa) Although the nose is very open it feels like there is something behind all this aromas left. Mysterious.
Palate: Medium+ body, great crashed stones, mineral component. Very long with good power. And still so much time left to drink this. Wine of the tasting.

White
2005 Zind-Humbrecht Riesling Clos Windsbuhl France, Alsace
90 points
Colour: Amber golden.
Nose: Oxidativ nose with aromas of tobacco, candied apricote, toast, honey and some cinnamon. Okay but not very appealing.
Palate: Medium+ bodied wine, medium lenght. Very substantial. Drink up now.
