Introduction

The lesser flight was tasted last due to circumstances.
Well, as expected Priorat, Toro and RDD were stars of this tasting.

Flight 1 (2 notes)

Red
2010 Bodegas Castaño Casa Cisca Spain, Murcia, Yecla
86 points
Bright colour and intensive nose of smoked fruits, dried fruits, some alcohol can be felt already on the nose. With time it nicely develops into sauna and wood aromas. Low accidity, very extracted, which leads to a bitter finish. Dense and earthy, lots of oak and tannin. Will improve.
Red
2009 Domaines Lupier Navarra El Terroir Spain, Navarra
85 points
High accidity, red currants on the nose, minerality, quite elegant and delicate. Nose is more intense and promising than the palate delivers.

Flight 2 (3 notes)

Red
2009 Bodegas y Viñedos Alión Ribera del Duero Spain, Castilla y León, Ribera del Duero
94 points
Some pleasant barnyard on the nose as well as eucalyptus, spices, tobacco. Superb mouth feel, silky, some vanilla sweetness. Classic feel of Franch wine, which I would say if tasted it blind. Complex and polished. Loved it. (A)

2011 Teso La Monja Toro Victorino Spain, Castilla y León, Toro

Absolutely non-transparent, very oily and dense. Super extracted, but at the same time light and suede-like. Chocolate, incense, spices on the nose, most hedonistic, round and plesant mouthfeel. This strongly reminded me of Roda Cirsion.
Red
2005 Alvaro Palacios Priorat Finca Dofí Spain, Catalunya, Priorat
93 points
Nose of olives or some vegetables as well as licorice, pencil lead. Also balsamico and caramelised onions. Tannins still strong. Complex and elegant. Very interesting development in the glass. (A-)

Flight 3 (1 note)

White - Sparkling
2008 Duran Cava Brut Nature Gran Reserva Spain, Cava
84 points
Drank this in between the sets to freshen up the palate. It was nice and classic.

Flight 4 (3 notes)

Red
2008 Bodegas Alejandro Fernández La Mancha El Vínculo Spain, Castilla-La Mancha, La Mancha
81 points
Peculiar nose: soap almost chlorine-like to me. Others said - barnyard, sweaty saddle. Same animal notes on the palate as well as saline taste and some spices. A simple, unexciting wine, although - coming after such a line-up was a clear disadvantage.
Red
2010 César Príncipe Cigales Spain, Castilla y León, Cigales
83 points
Some barnyard, flowers on the nose. Seemed plump on the palate, chemical notes. Ok.
Red
2011 Descendientes de José Palacios Bierzo Pétalos Spain, Castilla y León, Bierzo
85 points
Rather light body, flowery feal to this wine. Quite elegant as well.
