Flight 1 (6 notes)

White
2013 Heitz Cellar Chardonnay USA, California, Napa Valley
90 points
Cool, fresh, good fruit, elegant, mainly stainless steel, non malo, subtle oak (part fermented and aged for 6 months in barrique). Should be able to last and develop its complexity.
Rosé
2014 Heitz Cellar Grignolino Rosé USA, California, Napa Valley
89 points
Wonderfully fresh, fruity and floral, perfumed, strawberries, cherries, light but does not lack intensity, just a hint of bitters for balance, good length. Absolutely delicious.
Red
2010 Heitz Cellar Cabernet Sauvignon USA, California, Napa Valley
92 points
Made from 100% Cabernet-Sauvignon, 14.5% ABV, aged for 1 year in American Oak tanks and for 2 years in Limousin barriques. Soft and ripe bright fruit, gentle tannins, drinking well, smooth and harmonious, elegant for its weight, hint of smoky oak, medium body, good length. A very stylish wine - there is more to this than meets the eye.
Red
2005 Heitz Cellar Cabernet Sauvignon Trailside Vineyard USA, California, Napa Valley, Rutherford
94 points
Beautifully balanced in every respect, as it marries age and youth, its lovely core of ripe velvety fruit with freshness, power with elegance; hint of mint, finely etched tannins, perfectly absorbed oak (one year in American Oak tanks, 2.5 years in 100% new Limousin barriques), very good length. Drinking well, will easily last another 15-20 years on its impeccable balance. There is a real sense of beauty about this wine.
Red
1998 Heitz Cellar Cabernet Sauvignon Martha's Vineyard USA, California, Napa Valley, Oakville
94 points
Cooler year so not the usual richness and weight of fruit, but the briary, minty style is very typical for the vineyard; slightly herbaceous on the nose, bright flavours, medium weight, smoky oak, wonderful balance and silky length. Has another two decades ahead of it to develop futher complexity, constructed with real sensitivity. 14.2% ABV.
Red - Fortified
N.V. Heitz Cellar Port Ink Grade Vineyard USA, California, Napa Valley
89 points
A blend of Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz, Souzão, Tinta Bairrada, Tinta Madeira, Tinta Amarela and Bastardo, 18.5% ABV. Lovely sweet black fruit combined with a deliciously rich note of sweet honey, fresh and balanced, nice hint of spice on the finish.
