Introduction

2012 in Burgundy: Low volumes of Chardonnay - difficult weather. But many wine have shown well (-Jancis)

Flight 1 (11 notes)

White
2012 Domaine Christian Moreau Père et Fils Chablis 1er Cru Vaillon France, Burgundy, Chablis, Chablis 1er Cru
85 points
Pale straw in the glass.
On the nose, slight flint (noble reduction).
Light body, correct moderate alcohol and high acid, a bit short, classic green apple notes.
8.5

Vinification:
60% in stainless steel vats with temperature-controlled fermentation.
40% in barrels (90% in 1,2 and 3 years old barrels, 10% in new and 1 year old barrels) for a period of 6 months.
White
2012 Domaine Christian Moreau Père et Fils Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos France, Burgundy, Chablis, Chablis Grand Cru
88 points
Pale straw in the glass.
Slight cheese rind (lees), apply, slight honey (potentially a hint of botrytis?) green apple.
In the mouth, medium body, moderate alcohol (feels 12.5%), and high acid. Clean finish. There's a slight impression of white, raw, untoasted oak - it's nice. Maybe 20% new?

8.5-9

White
2012 Olivier Leflaive Rully 1er Cru Les Cloux Blanc France, Burgundy, Côte Chalonnaise, Rully 1er Cru
88 points
Pale straw in the glass.
Nose of slight earth and cheese rind, and laced with sweet notes of oak. Quite attractive, aromatically. More overt oak than the Les Clos chablis (as one would expect).
In the mouth, medium minus body, moderate alcohol, high acid.
Lean.
8.5-9
White
2012 Olivier Leflaive Meursault 1er Cru Les Poruzots France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault 1er Cru
92 points
13.5%
Pale straw in the glass. Reductive nose of warm, pleasantly funky struck match. Well-integrated oak - buttercream and toast. Aromatic.

In the mouth, elevated alcohol (13.5%) with strong high acid. Lemon curd, buttercream, slight impression of... skunk?

I'm not describing this well, but I really liked it.
