Introduction

Tasting J.M. and Henri Boillot white Burgundies.

Flight 1 (5 notes)

White
2006 J.M. Boillot Bourgogne Blanc France, Burgundy, Bourgogne Blanc
85 points
Very light straw yellow color. Aromas of toasted oak, butter, melon and a hint of white pepper. In the mouth it has peachs and melon but the taste is short and dry. It gives an overall clean impression, however not very elegant.

2005 Domaine Henri Boillot Puligny-Montrachet France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Puligny-Montrachet
86 points
Light golden yellow color. Some lemon and butter on the nose, but holding back. Very elegant yet fruity fatness on the palate. Fresh mineral impression with lots of lemon-like acidity. Meduim long taste with some butter at the finish. The balance between fruit acidity and the framing oak seems to actually need a bit more oak.

Light golden yellow color. Toasted oak, butter and melon on the nose, otherwise very restrained at the moment. Very clean and elegant on the palate, nice mineral tones framed by some oak. A refreshing edge of lemon-like acidity. Nice long taste, ending with a bit too much oak. This is very nice, but it needs some cellaring to fully open up.

Golden yellow color. Amazing nose with aromas of carrot, banana and sweet yellow fruit. The nose is giving more and more with some air. In the mouth it deliviers great depth and fruit, and the oak is very nicely integrated, only giving a frame rather than stealing the picture. Long and delicious taste. It only seems to lack a bit of complexity - which I'm certain will show up with cellaring.

Nice golden color. Nice fruit on the nose, mirabelles, yellow plums and some wine gum. Nice complexity and nuances on the palate, still dominated by the yellow fruit but some nuts and mushroom are apparent. Nice balance and good length. Drinking really well now, but definitely has the potential for even more.
