Flight 1 - Champagne and outdoor wines (3 notes)

White - Sparkling
2007 Louis Roederer Champagne Cristal Brut France, Champagne

Tasted over 30 minutes
-clear yellow, fine mousse
-a bit of yeast and slight quinine
-med+ acidity, fantastic cut and balance, power without weight, complex and sappy yellow fruit
-aromatics tight but just a solid powerful complex gorgeous wine on the palate

Rosé
2017 Domaine de Marquiliani Corse Rosé Gris de Marquiliani France, Corsica, Corse
.
Typical pale pink, faint fruit, just enough acidity soft fruit saline savory. Very nice as always.
White
2010 Edmond Vatan Sancerre Clos la Néore France, Loire Valley, Upper Loire, Sancerre
.
Tasted over 30 minutes
-translucent pale green-gold
-waxy, lanolin, grapefruit citrus
-med acidity, quinine mild oxidative notes grapefruit
-interesting this has some features similar to a BdB Champagne without bubbles, definitely not a typical profile for sauvignon blanc, unique

Flight 2 - Burgundy (2 notes)

-nearly semi-translucent dark red
-fresh red-fruited nose
-med+ acidity, red-fruited minerality, med tannins
-lovely lively wine early on mature plateau

Slow-ox 5 hrs, tasted over 1 hr
-dark red no bricking
-black fruit gorgeous gentle spice
-med acidity, med weight sophisticated stylish dark fruit and spice, good complexity, med tannins
-very nice wine still young probably needs a few more years to hit its prime

Flight 3 - Big Reds (3 notes)

Slow-ox 2 hrs, decant another 3 hrs, tasted over 1 hr
-opaque dark red no bricking
-distinct black pepper some berry and sausage
-med acidity, berry black fruit licorice not extremely complex, med+/hi tannins
-still tight and closed down, needs more time

-opaque red-black no bricking
-muted dark fruit
-med acidity, silky ripe dark fruit licorice tar, med tannins with some backend heat
-still on the young side

-opaque dark black-red no bricking
-muted dark fruit plum tobacco
-med- acidity, big liqueur-like black fruit with some mature elements, med+ tannins
-still structured burly not charming

Flight 4 - Ringer (1 note)

Tasted over 30 minutes
-med dark red mild/mod bricking
-moderate mature elements rhubarb brown spice
-med- acidity, med/med- weight sousbois soft faded red fruit earth, med- tannins
-fully mature, would have been better if not tasted after some big reds

Flight 5 - Sticky (1 note)

White - Sweet/Dessert
1971 Château de Monbazillac Monbazillac Château Monbazillac France, Southwest France, Dordogne, Monbazillac
.
Tasted over 30 minutes, bottle from secondary market
-translucent bright orange
-some orange marmalade
-med- acidity, med weight caramel, lacks complexity, some perceptible sweetness
-OK but not worth seeking out at this point
