Introduction

Theme: Meursault & Morey Saint Denis, 1er cru or grand cru or damn nice any level
All wines tasted single blind.

Flight 1 - Aperitif (1 note)

White - Sparkling
2007 Roses de Jeanne / Cédric Bouchard Champagne Blanc de Noirs Cote de Bechalin France, Champagne
Highly expressive aromas with super floral note. It is pretty normal that most can’t imagined this is a Champagne with Zero dosage with its rounded, almost creamy on the palate but with underlying tension to keep everything in check with no sharp edge at all. Getting toward more saline to the finish. Drinking beautifully now.

Flight 2 - Flight 1 - 'The' Meursault (3 notes)

White
2010 Domaine des Comtes Lafon Meursault 1er Cru Les Genevrières France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault 1er Cru
Just a little touch of flint, with generous core of orchard fruits and light herbs. Excellent balance and delineation here. It has lovely textural richness with underlying minerality. Again very generous fruits and highly expressive on the palate, almost opulent but still precise and focus. A classy juice. Lafon is really on fire since 2008 (i think).
White
2015 Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey Meursault 1er Cru Charmes France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault 1er Cru
Initially this come across as bold, buttery and loaded with sweet ripe fruits. From a ripe vintage? Yes we thought so when blinded. Very powerful on the palate, good depth and richness but lack the tension and length of the Lafon.
However the wine starts to wind up as it gets warmer in the glass: flint, cooler fruits with better acidity for the tension and freshness. Showing more and more salinity toward the end which is pretty much the profile of PYCM.

White
2011 Domaine Roulot Meursault 1er Cru Charmes France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault 1er Cru
Highly aromatic, peaches, lime etc intermixed with touch of herbs and crushed rocks, very giving yet remains focus. Flint, match stick and creaminess at the same time.
It is even more amazing on the palate with excellent purity, crystalline fruits and super precision. Very pure, crystalline, focus and Super precise. Truly delicious and we were wondering why we didn't get some when we still could.

Flight 3 - Flight 2 - Dujac CSD Duo (2 notes)

Red
2007 Domaine Dujac Clos St. Denis France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Clos St. Denis Grand Cru
Serving after opened for 1.5hrs. Very light in color, pale ruby but the aromatic intensity is amazing. Floral, red cherry, strawberry with just a touch of whole bunch aromas. Coffee, savouriness, cinnamon etc emerged with air. Complex and captivating.
Lively, energetic and engaging on the palate with the flavours intensity instead of power. Loaded with layer of fruits, minerality, linear, inner perfume with touch of stem but that’s really nice and added another dimension. Juicy, fresh and elegant that is true to the terroir as well as the vintage. This is drinking wonderfully and will last.
Red
2008 Domaine Dujac Clos St. Denis France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Clos St. Denis Grand Cru
Similar to the 2007 CSD but slightly sweeter and also more acidity as well as structured. Cherry liqueur, mint, Asian spices.
Sweet and sour entry with umami-ness showing from the mid palate, slowly getting firmer. Very precise and detail, more intense and grippy toward the end with bittersweet cocoa, juicy fruits and salinity. A success.

Flight 4 - Flight 3 (2 notes)

Red
2005 Georges Lignier et Fils Clos St. Denis France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Clos St. Denis Grand Cru
Didn't expect this was from the 2005 giving the approachability and softer structured. Beside that, this has already showing some sous bois, autumn leaves, haw flakes etc which is entering secondary phase. Soft and elegant on the entry, getting firmer and deeper toward the mid palate with considerably power but still kinda soft for 2005. While the palate is not as complex as the nose, this is drinking very well tonight.
Red
2014 Domaine Coquard Loison-Fleurot Clos St. Denis France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Clos St. Denis Grand Cru
Saturated ruby w purple rim suggested that this is definitely much younger than any of the wines serving before. This has candied sweetness as well as some classy new oak intermixed with licorice, mint, bacon oil and orange peel. deep and elegant. Very intense on the palate, mouth coating intensity, quite complex already but not as precise. Pretty elegant and very juicy. Give this another 5-7yrs and shall evolved into something delightful.

Flight 5 - Flight 4 (1 note)

Red
2007 Domaine Dujac Clos de la Roche France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Clos de la Roche Grand Cru
Very powerful, more muscular than all the CSD serving before and clearly a Clos de la Roche. This has darker fruits profile (haw flakes, plum) than the 2007 CSD, also earthier. Coffee, caramel, mint, smoke meat and showing more whole bunches profile too. While the CSD is driven by fruits intensity, this has more raw power, broader and rounder. Very fine but firmed tannin structured suggested that this needs more time in the bottle compared to the CSD to tame the underlying power. However, don't get me wrong, to me this show great tonight as well. I especially like the umami-ness and grip on the palate, with lovely persistency.

Closing

Yet another great gathering with all wines showing well, no premox, no TCA ^^
Special mention about the 2007 Dujac CSD & 2007 Dujac CDLR. The wines showed the terroir distinctiveness: Elegant CSD & Powerful CDLR.
Till next time.
