Copenhagen

Introduction

50 courses. How many wines? We ended up with 5. The courses were so different and extreme, so no matter what, the wines could not interact perfectly with all the courses. And after all we decided not to go after 50 wines...

Flight 1 (5 notes)

White - Sparkling
2009 André Jacquart Champagne Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs Millésimé Expérience Le Mesnil France, Champagne, Champagne Grand Cru
94 points
Outstanding wine with lots of bread dough and yeast. Toast and nutty (tertiary oxidative notes). 94+
White
2017 Bodega Chacra Chardonnay Argentina, Patagonia
90 points
Lots of minerality, tight expression, high acidity and delicate nose and palate. Very Chablis like. I personally prefer the style from Puligny and Meursault with a little more expressive (but not too much) body, MLF and yeast notes. At first the style is unexpected because the wine is heavily inspired by Roulot who is actually from Meursault. However knowing Roulot you know that his wines are not typical Meursault as he is responsible for some of the most crispy, clean, and mineral wines you can get. I do not fully understand WA's 94+ rating. An excellent wine but not outstanding. My comments and rating might be influenced by the very special food we had at the restaurant.

White - Off-dry
2007 Egon Müller Scharzhofberger Riesling Auslese Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer

A perfect medium dry - medium sweet wine with the most delicate kerosene background. 95+
Red
2015 Domaine Taupenot-Merme Morey St. Denis 1er Cru La Riotte France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Morey St. Denis 1er Cru
90 points
Nothing special to report
Red
2012 Williams Selyem Pinot Noir Williams Selyem Estate Vineyard USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley
90 points
Cult status but nevertheless a typical style from Sonoma. Not anything special
