White
2003 Franz Hirtzberger Riesling Smaragd Singerriedel Austria, Niederösterreich, Wachau
92 points
*** Note is based on 2x0,1l bottles filled about 2 days before the tasting from 0,75l bottle ***
Glass: Zalto Universal
Clear, youthful pale golden color. Clean, medium intense, developing nose. Orange zests, tropical fruit, botrytis, crushed stones. Warm and dense.
Dry, medium+ acidity. 13,5% abv that makes the wine a bit hot. On the palate lots of orange zests, orange marmalade, lots of crushed stones, botrytis, very mineral. High extract, very deep and dense, creamy mouthfeel. Medium+ finish, very dense and at the end a bit bitter. It can’t deny its origin and the warm vintage. Still a few years of life left, but I will not improve. 92-93
White
2003 Georg Breuer Rauenthaler Nonnenberg Riesling Germany, Rheingau
94 points
*** Note is based on 2x0,1l bottles filled about 2 days before the tasting from 0,75l bottle ***
Glass: Zalto Universal
Clear, youthful pale golden color. Clean, medium intense, developing nose. Smoky and dark, very mineral, delicate yellow stone fruit and some herbs. Very dense and deep, simply beautiful.
Dry, medium+ acidity. For Breuer unusual high alc of 13% is never noticeable. On the palate very smoky and very mineral/salty. Sweet and warm fruit, some zesty notes. Very complex. High extract, round, balanced and creamy. Astonishing power and substance. Long finish, very smoky and mineral. Certainly an unusual Nonnenberg, but very good and another proof, how well Nonnenberg can age. This bottle has potential for at least 5+ years. 93-94

Red
2009 Château du Cèdre Cahors GC France, Southwest France, Cahors
93 points
*** Note is based on 2x0,1l bottles filled about 2 days before the tasting from 0,75l bottle ***
Glass: Riedel Vinum Syrah / Zalto Universal
Clear, deep purple-ruby color, almost inky. Clean, medium intense, youthful-developing nose. Spicy, black pepper, fine toasting notes, plum and other dark fruit, fine herbs, tobacco and some smoked meat. Very deep and dense and not with the lactic notes that Argentinian Malbec usually has.

Very good balance, deep and dense, good grip and tension. Long, peppery and fine fruity finish. Rather cool, never to bold. Probably not yet at its full peak and with a good upscale potential. 93

White - Off-dry
1995 Von Schubert Maximin Grünhäuser Herrenberg Riesling Auslese Nr. 91 Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer
93 points
*** Note is based on 2x0,1l bottles filled about 2 days before the tasting from 0,75l bottle ***
Glass: Zalto Universal
Clear, glowing deep golden color with amber hue. Clean, medium+ intense, fully developing nose. Classic Grünhaus / Ruwer. Candied fruit, cassis, elder, woodruff and slate. Deep and complex.
On the palate very lean, precise and elegant. Never fat or cloying. Sweetness is perfectly balanced by the high, racy acidity. Only 7,5% abv. Cassis, candied fruit and exotic fruit, beautiful mineral core. Very good pressure and tension, very dense and balanced. Very long, elegant and fruity finish. Full peak, but this bottle would have stayed on this level for several more years. Way better than my last bottle! 93
