Flight 1 - Wines as We Arrived (2 notes)

White
1999 Louis Jadot Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Champs-Gain Domaine Gagey France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru
DOA
White
1999 Louis Jadot Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Combettes France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru
88 points
Served double blind, obviously old-ish white Burgundy, I thought this approx 2005 or 2006 (ripe vintage) with just enough lingering acidity and brightness.

Flight 2 - Young White 1ers (4 notes)

White
2016 Louis Jadot Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru La Garenne France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru
90 points
Ripe and fleshy with floral and peach character. Good depth, good now, but with enough brightness to carry the wine forward.
White
2016 Louis Jadot Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Folatières Domaine des Héritiers Louis Jadot France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru
92 points
Lots of orchard fruit from start-to-finish with faint stone fruit hints, overall good concentration and volume, with very good harmony right now. Lots of depth throughout, this brightens up nicely middle forward. From en La Richarde.
White
2018 Louis Jadot Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Folatières Domaine des Héritiers Louis Jadot France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru
92 points
Bigger, bolder, and sexier than the charming 2016, this isn't quite as seamless, but has more of nearly everything. Better in another year or three. From en La Richarde.
White
2018 Louis Jadot Meursault 1er Cru Les Genevrières Domaine Louis Jadot France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault 1er Cru
90 points
Very tasty, very fun wit lots of ripe orchard fruit, an enchanting nut butter character, and good weight. Slightly lacking energy on its finish, this is a wonderful wine to enjoy now through the next 5+ years, but probably not best to cellar past that.

Flight 3 - Gevrey-Chambertin Clos St. Jacques (4 notes)

Red
1997 Louis Jadot Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Clos St. Jacques Domaine Louis Jadot France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru
93 points
Single blind in 96/97/02/03 vertical. My favorite of the vertical, this is completely seamless and harmonious, clearly mature, just not quite showing the greatest density of the flight. Incredibly tasty from start-to-finish. Correctly identified as the 1997.
Red
1996 Louis Jadot Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Clos St. Jacques Domaine Louis Jadot France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru
flawed
Single blind in 96/97/02/03 vertical. Mature black fruit with awkward structure to start, this deteriorated in glass, losing steam quickly. A pale shadow of previous bottles.
Red
2002 Louis Jadot Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Clos St. Jacques Domaine Louis Jadot France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru
92 points
Single blind in 96/97/02/03 vertical. Correctly identified as the '02. Bold black fruit with meaty notes. Lots of power with good balance, finish sneaks up with even more power, while nearly finessed. Still possible upside from here.

Red
2003 Louis Jadot Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Clos St. Jacques Domaine Louis Jadot France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru
91 points
Single blind in 96/97/02/03 vertical. Correctly identified as the '03. Fully mature, but with the best concentration of the flight. This has the sheer volume to keep this fresh and bright enough to enjoy for at least another 5+ (10?) years.

Flight 4 - Bonnes Mares (4 notes)

Red
1997 Louis Jadot Bonnes Mares France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Bonnes Mares Grand Cru
flawed
Also in single blind 96/97/02/03 vertical. Seemed old and tired with some signs of stewiness that brought out hints of VA and brett. Previous bottles bought at the same time were great.
Red
1996 Louis Jadot Bonnes Mares France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Bonnes Mares Grand Cru
flawed
Also in single blind 96/97/02/03 vertical. Seemed old and dirty, eventually cork notes emerged.
Red
2002 Louis Jadot Bonnes Mares France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Bonnes Mares Grand Cru
95 points
Also in single blind 96/97/02/03 vertical. Rich red cherry and berry throughout, very dense and powerful. This seemed lush, but the structure was ever-present, just behind in the near background. Very good now, with further upside. Difficult to tell if this was the 2002 or 2003, and I thought wrong.

2003 Louis Jadot Bonnes Mares France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Bonnes Mares Grand Cru
95 points
Also in single blind 96/97/02/03 vertical. More black vs red fruit, this was completely seamless and fully engaging, even if less powerful than the (equally brilliant) 2002. Great length. Difficult to tell if this was the 2002 or 2003, and I thought wrong.

Flight 5 - 1997 Grand Cru (2 notes)

Red
1997 Louis Jadot Chapelle-Chambertin France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chapelle-Chambertin Grand Cru
flawed
Corked.
Red
1997 Louis Jadot Clos Vougeot France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Clos Vougeot Grand Cru
92 points
Mature cherry on nose and palate, more red vs black fruited, with earth and faint savory spice. Lots here, very nuanced. Very good weight and balance. Much better vs my previous bottle from the same case that opened late last year.

Flight 6 - A Few More Wines (2 notes)

Red
2003 Louis Jadot Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Aux Malconsorts France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru
89 points
Popped-and-poured, tasted double blind, knowing it was Jadot. Lots here, needs more time. Firm and tannic with lots of power in front of ripe fruit, which made me think this was from 2005. Subdued aromas and a flavor profile of black cherry and plum, meaty notes, and just subtle spice, which took me to Gevrey, thinking it to be Estournelles or Lavaux '05. Oops.
White - Sweet/Dessert
2003 Château Coutet Barsac France, Bordeaux, Sauternais, Barsac
90 points
Tasted double blind. Rich and sweet, this had lots of big, bold flavors, just slightly less nuance and subtlety than this tends to show in other great vintages. Still wonderfully fresh. My first time re-tasting since en Primeur in 2004.
