Flight 1 - Big chardonnays (3 notes)

White
2019 Verget Saint Véran Vignes de Saint Claude France, Burgundy, Mâconnais, Saint Véran
From magnum. Full-bodied and luscious without tipping over. Enjoyed very much
White
2018 Domaine de Baronarques Blanc France, Languedoc Roussillon, Languedoc, Limoux
This felt lighter and less giving than the Saint-Veran, not sure the comparison did it any favours.
White
2019 Rupert & Rothschild Chardonnay Baroness Nadine South Africa, Coastal Region
Third of three chardonnays and we probably got the order wrong. This was greatly enjoyed by all and upstaged the Baronarques which looked a bit forlorn by comparison.

Flight 2 - Dinner (1 note)

Red
1998 Luce della Vite Lucé Italy, Tuscany, Toscana IGT
Decanted for an hour or so, served with roasted poussin. Very resolved into maturity. Don't see it improving from here but it hasn't crashed either. Graceful.

Flight 3 - Cooking (1 note)

White
2020 Westwell Ortega United Kingdom, England, Kent
Lovely enticing nose - apricot? Some bitterness, almost like beer. Lime. Interesting but didn't really enjoy

Flight 4 - Sunday lunch (2 notes)

Red
2012 Vietti Barolo Castiglione Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barolo
Decanted for a couple of hours, really showing beautifully. Good typicity, lovely texture. Great match for four-hour lamb shoulder.

Fresh and energetic. Enjoyed.
