Flight 1 - White (3 notes)
White
2011 Hubert Lamy Criots-Bâtard-Montrachet
95 points
What a stunning 2011. Sesame reduction upon opening, bodied but incredibly chiseled, a very elegant expression of the terroir. White fruit, flint, gunpowder, intense. Some thinness among the Grand Cru fat body, in a good way. Outshined the two Montrachets with its personality. 95-96
White
2014 Domaine de la Romanée-Conti Montrachet
97 points
00536/3160, decanted. This wine is probably immortal; it barely changed throughout the night, from the first pour to the last sip. Tropical white and yellow fruit, coconut, yoghurt, sunshine. Large but tender on the palate, with all the energy hidden beneath the surface that never breaks. No notable flaws from what I can tell; this will be incredible with proper patience. 97+
White
2005 Domaine des Comtes Lafon Montrachet
95 points
Individual OWC. Fat, rich, yellow fruit, mineral, huge. Textbook Montrachet but missing some personality compared to the other two in the flight. 95
Flight 2 - 1er Cru (5 notes)
Red
1990 Joseph Drouhin Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Amoureuses
93 points
Ex-domaine late release wax capsule, decanted to remove the musk at the opening. Elegant textbook Chambolle, vibrant dark fruit, meaty, chewy. 93-94
Red
2002 Emmanuel Rouget Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Cros Parantoux
flawed
First bottle was somewhat maderized, but not undrinkable. Excellent fruit quality underneath, pure, spicy. NR

Second bottle has some cork taint to it, decanted. Still not undrinkable but would have loved to see this wine soaring.
Day three, put some cellophane wrap in the decanter with the wine. Drinkable to say the least. Underneath is incredibly pure red fruit and overwhelming amount of spice. What a wine this would have been.

2002 Domaine Truchot-Martin Morey St. Denis 1er Cru Les Blanchards
93 points
Probably drunk too quickly before this had time to open up. Classic MSD earthiness, if somewhat dirty, sweet, and good dark purple fruit quality on top. Not sure if this is the most representative Truchot or just needed air. 92-93
Red
2011 Domaine Leroy Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru Aux Vignerondes
94 points
00109/1198. Easy winner of the flight. So perfumed, red and purple fruits, nail polish, opulent spice, sweet, violet flowers, and just enough woodiness to remain true to its NSG terroir. Terrific length and grip. 94
Flight 3 - Richebourg (3 notes)
Red
1970 Domaine Jean Gros Richebourg
94 points
Alexis Lichine bottling. Classic Richebourg, blue fruit, cherry, plum, purple spice, rose petal, sous bois, hay, mushroom, earth. Excellent structure and tannin profile, if slightly smaller than the DRCs on the side. 94
Red
1990 Domaine de la Romanée-Conti Richebourg
97 points
14328/15789. Ethereal, lifted, opulent spice, sous bois, red and blue fruit, gamey, garden of flowers, rose petal, camomile, Oriental tea, stemmy, regal. Grip of power caresses the palate, not too much, not too little, just enough to leave a lasting weightless impression. DRC's star of the vintage and easy WOTN. 97
Red
2013 Domaine de la Romanée-Conti Richebourg
95 points
Magnum 00010/6809, decanted. What a vibrant and grippy Richebourg. Stemmy, some green, blue fruit, incredibly resolved and lifted. So much energy underneath, shy but outgoing at the same time. Different style from the other two but what a pleasure. 95-96

Flight 4 (4 notes)
Red
2015 Domaine de la Romanée-Conti Grands-Echezeaux
94 points
01453/12672, blind. Four of us correctly identified the wine. Quite large, whole cluster, purple fruit, dark spice, some earthiness. Perhaps a heavier hitter on the palate and power than the 13 Richebourg magnum but less vibrant. Obviously GE from the same maker in an excellent vintage. 94

Red
2001 Emmanuel Rouget Echezeaux
flawed
Maderized unfortunately. This would have been one of the best Rouget Echezeaux out there, per the last bottle in Europe.
Red
1979 Château Rayas Côtes du Rhône Château de Fonsalette Reserve
93 points
Blind. Really vibrant and fresh, woody, even not much sediments. I was not able to pinpoint Grenache on this at all. 92-93
