Introduction

All wines are tasted blind in Spiegelau Universal Glasses.

Flight 1 - Morey Saint Denis Whites (2 notes)

White
2015 Domaine Ponsot Morey St. Denis 1er Cru Clos des Monts Luisants Vieilles Vignes France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Morey St. Denis 1er Cru
94 points
Tasted it side by side with vintage 2019. Vintage 2019 was more rounder and lower acidity. While 2015 show more acidity, longer finish and more complexity. Notes of pear, green apple and lemon. Tasted it blind, thought it was a Chardonnay. Very well make wine. For Mont Luisants, its the only climat that allow Aligote to be planted and its classified as a Premier Cru. Two notable wine maker are Ponsot and Dujac.

Flight 2 - 2018 Same Producer Different Appellations (2 notes)

Red
2018 Domaine Arlaud Clos de la Roche France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Clos de la Roche Grand Cru
94 points
Popped and let it breath in the bottle for around 4 hours. Nose is medium and still youthful. Notes of cherry, strawberry, flora, red fruits. Tasted is side by side with 2018 Arlaud Clos Saint Denis and like Clos de la Roche slightly more. This wine have great potential. Suggest to cellar for longer term.
Red
2018 Domaine Arlaud Clos St. Denis France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Clos St. Denis Grand Cru
93 points
Popped and let it breath in the bottle for around 4 hours. Nose is medium and still youthful. Notes of cherry, strawberry, flora, red fruits, earth. Tasted is side by side with 2018 Arlaud Clos de la Roche and like Clos de la Roche slightly more. Both wine have great potential. Suggest to cellar for longer term.

Flight 3 - 2014 Two Different Appellations (2 notes)

Red
2014 Joseph Drouhin Clos St. Denis France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Clos St. Denis Grand Cru
94 points
Already showing well. Pronounced nose intensity with notes of flora, ripe strawberry, toast, earth, red fruits. Medium acidity and medium tannin. Long finish. Drink now or keep with potential.
Red
2014 Charles Van Canneyt Bonnes Mares France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Bonnes Mares Grand Cru
92 points
Medium+ nose intensity with notes of red fruits, sour cherry, strawberry, spices, flora and toast. Medium+ to high acidity. On the palate, find it slightly unbalanced between acidity and body. Medium+ finish.

Flight 4 - 2008 Two Wines From Same Producer (3 notes)

Red
2008 Domaine du Clos de Tart Morey St. Denis 1er Cru La Forge de Tart France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Morey St. Denis 1er Cru
93 points
Pronounced nose intensity with notes of red fruits, sour cherry, spices and toast. Feel that acidity is high side. So far, when drinking 2008 Burgundy, always feel that 2008 is not ready to drink for me as the acidity is unbalanced with the body. Tasted blind and drank along side 2008 Clos de Tart and obviously 2008 Clos de Tart have a higher score.
Red
2008 Domaine du Clos de Tart Clos de Tart France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Clos de Tart Grand Cru
95 points
Pronounced nose intensity with notes of red fruits, sour cherry, spices and toast. High acidity with medium+ tannin to high tannin. Feel that both acidity and tannin is high side. Even though tannin is on the higher side, it does not taste austere, just grippy to me. So far, when drinking 2008 Burgundy, always feel that 2008 is not ready to drink for me as the acidity is unbalanced with the body. Tasted blind
Red
2008 Domaine Dujac Clos de la Roche France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Clos de la Roche Grand Cru
94 points
Pronounced nose intensity with sour cherry, flora, red fruits, toast, earth. Medium+ acidity and medium tannin. Felt that the wine is not in it peak and just entering drinking window. Will be interesting to find out in future on its development hence the lower score.

Flight 5 - 2007 Two Wines from Same Appellation (3 notes)

Red
2007 Lucie & Auguste Lignier Clos de la Roche France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Clos de la Roche Grand Cru
95 points
Pronounced nose intensity with notes of red fruits, sour cherry, strawberry, spices, flora, toast, earth. Drinking well now and at its peak. Drink now, not sure if it can improve further. Medium acidity and tannin. Drank blind.
Red
2007 Domaine Drouhin-Laroze Bonnes Mares France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Bonnes Mares Grand Cru
95 points
Performing well now. Felt is drinking at its peak. Pronounced nose intensity with notes of flora, toast, red fruits, earth. Medium acidity and medium tannin. Long finish. Drink now. Not sure if it can be improved.
Red
2007 Domaine Arlaud Clos de la Roche France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Clos de la Roche Grand Cru
93 points
Medium+ nose intensity with notes of ripe red fruits, flora, strawberry, toast. Medium acidity and medium tannin. Tasted blind. Did not impress me. Not sure if it will improve with ageing or just bottle variation or simply drank too much.

Flight 6 - Wild Guess (1 note)

Red
2006 Domaine Arlaud Bonnes Mares France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Bonnes Mares Grand Cru
96 points
Pronounced nose intensity with notes of mushroom, spices, ripe red fruits, toast. Medium acidity and medium tannin. Tannin is fine. Drinking at its best. Will not improve further. At its peak or last drinking window. Very enjoyable.

Closing

WOTN for me is 2006 Arlaud Bonne Mares while a handful choose 2008 Clos de Tart.
