From Methuselah and this showed exceptionally youthful and vibrant out of that format.

White
2004 Trimbach Riesling Clos Ste. Hune
Opened a few hours ahead of service. Packed with concentrated, crisp fruit that is still quite youthful though approachable and well balanced. A long life ahead with upside from here.
White
2009 François Raveneau Chablis 1er Cru Montée de Tonnerre
93 points
Opened a few hours ahead of service and this could have used more aggressive air treatment. Fruit and aromas are still somewhat reductive, but not overly so to my palate. Classically Raveneau with excellent concentration and chiseling. Super fresh and bright for 2009. Upside from here.
White
2016 Domaine Bernard Moreau et Fils Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Grandes Ruchottes
94 points
From magnum. In a challenging year where the oldest of vines were lost, Alex managed to make an excellent Ruchottes. Enticing aromas waft from the glass. The palate somehow manages excellent richness and roundness with crystalline balance. Youthful in this format. Upside from here.

2007 Domaine Robert Arnoux / Arnoux-Lachaux Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Suchots

Magnum. A fun vintage of this wine with flashy, spice filled black cherry. Drinking well now, if a little reserved at first.

2000 Domaine Dujac Bonnes Mares
95 points
One of the wines of the night. Spectacular typical Dujac stem spice aromas leap from the glass. The palate has good power but quite approachable and refined in this vintage. Long, silky finish.

1991 Heitz Cellar Cabernet Sauvignon Martha's Vineyard
95 points
A special vintage of this wine and it shows. Lovely tobacco, bell pepper and cedar accents throughout with rich, concentrated plum fruit that has pristine balance. In the middle of its peak drinking window.

2015 Domaine Roulot Meursault 1er Cru Charmes
94 points
14/15 side-by-side. The '15 is at a peak and offering so much decadent pleasure with waves of fruit marked by hazelnuts, mineral and just a kiss of wood. Quite fresh and buoyant. Delicious.

2014 Domaine Roulot Meursault 1er Cru Charmes
94 points
14/15 side-by-side. The 14 is still a few years from the more here and now 2015. Still plenty of pleasure in the 14 but there is more in reserved. Upside from here.
White
2004 Pierre Morey Bâtard-Montrachet
95 points
Magnum. This was rocking and at a perfect peak. The fruit is now showing some honey and exotic secondary complexity, but still oh so powerful, fresh and energetic. Outstanding mature grand cru white burg.
Red
1934 Marqués de Murrieta Rioja Castillo Ygay Gran Reserva Especial
97 points
Its hard to reconcile how much fruit, energy and brightness remain in this wine at age 90. And it's absolutely delicious with so much complexity and so much going on texturally. A stunning treat.
Red
1964 Maison Leroy Grands-Echezeaux
98 points
Wow. What a stunning and gorgeous bottle - and perhaps as good as the 100 point bottle I tasted a 5 years ago, but the Paulee format of our dinner didn't let me quite ponder this wine as much as I would have liked. Everything you'd imagine in the very best of Vosne with the time to evolve while not losing the sexiness of fruit.

2006 Soldera (Az. Agr. Case Basse) Brunello di Montalcino Riserva
Magnum. Very similar to my note from a couple years ago. Texturally a wine to behold. So good.
White
1996 Faiveley Corton-Charlemagne
94 points
My goodness, they don't make white Burgundy like this anymore. Pure fruit that has added some earth and honey complexity but stays fresh on the palate. No trace of wood at all - so pure. In the second half of its drinking window but I could imagine this continues to hold.
Red
2014 Domaine Dujac Clos de la Roche
14 and 16 side-by-side in a Paulee style dinner - so it was hard to really assess the wines. I thought the 14 had more enticing whole cluster aromas though the palate was a bit more shut down vs. the more up front 2016. Both wines will benefit from a decade in the cellar.

2016 Domaine Dujac Clos de la Roche
14 and 16 side-by-side in a Paulee style dinner - so it was hard to really assess the wines. The 16 was more closed on the nose but I found the palate more generous, though still primary. Both vintages will benefit from a decade+ in the cellar. Fun to check in on them at this stage.
