There was a bit of VA on the nose at first. We poured off a bit and let it open up into savory tones of rose petals, roasted herbs, sour red cherries, raspberries, violets, tobacco leaf, crushed rocks, earth notes and black truffle notes. There is some lovely perfume to this with some excellent layering at this point. The Full bodied feel is deft and balanced with tart, high acidity and silky, high tannins. This is in a really beautiful place right now. There is a bit of primary fruit to the nose, but that first wave has peeled back and into something perfumed. The structure still has some youth and there is clearly plenty of gas in the tank, but it is absolutely worth opening a bottle now.

So, we had ordered the 06 of this and they gave us the 16 instead (thankfully they charged us the right amount). Funny how a minor accident can lead to something so beautiful. There is a real lush quality to the fruit along with the nose showing off a lot of perfume and nuance to the tones of tart red cherries, licorice, raspberries, crushed rocks, violets, wild flowers, purple fruits, bright red fruits, red berries, and sweet tobacco notes. The Full bodied feel is vibrant and balanced with tart, high acidity and silky, high tannins. The structure is youthful, but it hasn't gone into a shut down stage and it isn't too overbearing. This is still clearly young, but it's also really friggin good. This is a straight up sexy Barbaresco that will age gracefully for many many years.

This was extremely pretty and deep after just a few swirls in the glass. There is a higher-toned nature to it with layered tones of mint, menthol, licorice, dark red cherries, sweet dark red fruits, raspberries, currants, strawberries, petrichor, cinnamon, wild flowers, violets, and some savory notes. This is perfumed and sexy to a point where you really want to take every bit of it in. The Full bodied feel is refined and poised with tart, high acidity and silky, high tannins. There is still ample structure, but it has begun to step back and become more of a role player. This was the wotn and it was a real treat. The aromatics have really turned on and the feel shows how this has hit another gear.
