Introduction
My wife and I dined at The Barn at Blackberry Farm for her birthday. Fabulous meal in a beautiful setting! Really good wine pairing (except for the dessert pairing). After the meal, the Somm John led us on a tour of the extensive wine cellar (2nd largest restaurant wine cellar in the country). Very impressive evening!
WOTN for me was the 2017 Desparada Nebbiolo Dione Luna Matta

Wine pairing at Blackberry Farm - The Barn. This bottle contained grapes mostly from the '19 vintage. Med weight and pleasant. Good pairing with smoked califlower app. Without food it was 89pts. With food improved to 90pts. Brad - heavypourwine.com

Wine pairing at Blackberry Farm - The Barn. Dark ruby red. Expressive red fruit nose nose with maple, mint and a bit of barnyard. Good amount of tannin - super dry. Needs food. Good pairing with ham wrapped quail. Brad - heavypourwine.com

Wine pairing at Blackberry Farm - The Barn. Nose is caramelized banana with vanilla. Primary red fruit on the palate. Great pairing with wagyu hanger steak. Can really taste the alcohol. WOTN for me. It's interesting that I had recently tasted a CA Central Coast neb a few weeks ago which I did not like but I did like this neb. Prior to these two recent tastings, I was not aware anyone in the US was doing a neb. I'm going to seek out some more US neb producers for fun! Brad - heavypourwine.com

Wine pairing at Blackberry Farm - The Barn. This wine was just Meh. Just so much alcohol on the nose and palate. I guess I don't like these types of wines so take my review with that in mind. This was paired with chocolate brownie and it made the wine and the food worse. Disappointing end to what was otherwise a very nice wine pairing experience. Brad - heavypourwine.com
