2007 Vincent Dauvissat (René & Vincent) Chablis Grand Cru Les Preuses France, Burgundy, Chablis, Chablis Grand Cru

At this stage, expected a lot more. Premature. I presume it will improve with bottle age. However, I don't understand how the pros could give it such elevated scores at t
White
2007 Aubert Chardonnay Lauren Estate Vineyard USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Coast
92 points
A rich wine with tropical fruit flavors. But lacks the acidity and minerality I expect from Aubert. I much prefer the 01 and 02 Ritchie Vineyard to this.

Flight 2 (3 notes)

Red
2006 Domaine Robert Chevillon Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru Les Saint Georges France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru
90 points
Very good. Nice bouquet, sour cherry flavor. But not = to my 02 Vaucrain.
Red
2001 Peter Michael L'Esprit des Pavots USA, California, Sonoma County, Knights Valley
93 points
A superb wine, the Cab Franc showed well. Ellen doesn't normally kike Cab Franc dominant wines, but she loved this and preferred it to the Les Pavots. Blueberry notes.
Red
2001 Peter Michael Les Pavots USA, California, Sonoma County, Knights Valley
94 points
Intense. I preferred it slightly to the L'Esprit de Las Pavots. Great mid palate, and finish.

Flight 3 (2 notes)

Red
2006 Kalleske Shiraz Johann Georg Australia, South Australia, Barossa, Barossa Valley
94 points
Sweet intense wine. Similar to Astralis. I loved it. However, Ellen's comment was this might have been the fist Shiraz she didn't like.
Red
2006 Lewis Cellars Syrah USA, California, Napa Valley
93 points
Excellent, almost = to the Kalleske. A little lighter.

Flight 4 (2 notes)

Red
2005 Viña Cobos Malbec Argentina, Mendoza
95 points
Extraordinary. Seems to have Paul Hobbs signature. Very similar to my 2001 Paul Hobbs Beckstoffer To-Kalon.
Red
2004 Shafer Cabernet Sauvignon Hillside Select USA, California, Napa Valley, Stags Leap District
92 points
Good, but I expected a lot more.

Flight 5 (2 notes)

Red
2004 E. Pira & Figli (Chiara Boschis) Barolo Cannubi Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barolo
93 points
No rose bouquet. Amazingly light and fruit forward for such a young Barolo. Very approachable now.
Red
2006 Viñedos Lacalle y Laorden Rioja Viña el Pisón Spain, La Rioja, La Rioja Alavesa, Rioja
85 points
Monolithic. As I have frequently, complained of Rioja, there is "No There, There". Was totally outclassed by the other reds in the tasting.
