5/10/24, 11:41 PM - Det er ganske solid flaskevariasjon på disse; ikke at det er dårlige flasker, men at de uttrykker seg ganske ulikt. Så utviklingen fra 2021 kan også være flaskevariasjon :)
5/10/24, 11:29 PM - Not much will happen in a year, to be fair. I'd wait 5-7 years with the next one and see how it develops. For comparison; I've had the 64 and 68 the last year and they're stunning, beautiful wines that are very much alive. So no rush to drink these :) Enjoy!
Magisk.
5/9/24, 12:39 AM - Thanks for a great tasting note!I've had two bottles from the 70's this year (73 and 75) and I can tell you you're in no rush to finish your bottles. The 2004 is a good vintage and will mature well for decades to come. Enjoy!
3/24/24, 1:29 AM - Thanks for a great TN. For the 08s, I've tried quite a bit of the top cuvées and enjoy the Cristal, Comtes de Champagne, Pol Roger Winston Churchill, Bruno Paillard NPU and Fleur de Passion. Somehow, the DP has never really convinced, I think the 2012 and 2013 are both better than the 08. Will be fun to follow these wines the next couple of decades! Cheers!
12/18/23, 1:33 PM - Such a stunning, elegant and beautiful bottle of wine. Thanks for sharing your tasting note!
12/22/23, 8:59 AM - I feel you, brother! I got a six pack delivered this week and plan on opening a bottle for Christmas. Enjoy!
12/26/23, 12:12 PM - I agree! For me it’s CdC and Cristal.
12/23/23, 12:07 AM - Try a longer decant next time - my bottle yesterday was decanted and followed for about five hours and the last glass was the absolute best glass. Cheers!
12/23/23, 12:04 AM - The hole in the mid palate disappeared for me after 3-4 hours on the decanter!Cheers!
12/22/23, 4:18 AM - Hey! I had the Krug 1996 this summer and that was still in its infancy - I know the 2002 is not the same vintage but I am nevertheless surprised that this is already fully mature?
12/22/23, 4:15 AM - Yeah, I would also give it significantly more time than one hour. The wine is super robust and can take a lot of beating before it goes downhill :) Enjoy!
12/19/23, 2:05 AM - This was way too young for me when I tasted it last time a year ago. I am waiting another ten years before I give it another try. Cheers!
11/24/23, 4:36 AM - It’s based on previous experience of the same wine where its peak varies from 6-12 hours of decanting. Wines are much more robust than people give them credit for and my experience with long decanting (I follow the wine and note down my view on peak and when it turns) is that wines usually require more decanting than people are willing to give them. This is true for old and young wine (and if a wine is old depends on where it’s from). Give it a try if you’re willing to experiment :)
11/24/23, 5:46 AM - That’s interesting that they don’t see their wines benefiting from decanting at all. But this might be the same people who serve their wines from tiny wine glasses too (Italian trattoria style glasses) which makes me lose a bit of confidence in their thinking. I also wonder to what extent they’ve actually tried and tested their wines to see how to get the absolute best out of them. Maybe they also don’t want to make it too complicated for people so they just say “just pop and pour and it’ll be great”. My experience is overwhelmingly positive for solid decanting and I’m surprised so few “experts” have not had a structured approach to testing the effects. I’ve tested this with wine friends (opened two bottles of the same wine, tried to see if they taste the same (ish), decanted one and kept one on the bottle and then served after several hours) and the impact is significant. They all notice a big difference and they all agree the heavily decanted wine is by far the best. But it seems not a lot of people do this (but there is a lot of notes talking about day 2 and day 3 where an indication can be found).
7/13/23, 3:05 PM - Try a 24 hour decant next time :)
4/16/23, 5:28 AM - That was a great tasting!
2/14/23, 12:24 PM - My bottle recently was excellent. Beginning maturing well so secondary aromas all around but supported by the initial fruit. The oak is much more integrated and the tannins were smooth. A beautiful wine all around with decades of life left (had the 1989 recently as well, which was just incredible).
2/14/23, 12:39 PM - Yeah, they’re up almost 70% where I live too since the 2004 vintage. But I’d argue they’re still good value considering all the BS wines you get in the same price range. They’re good wines when they’re released and then they just get better and better for decades. I’ve stocked up on Ardanza too - my strategy is to enjoy them until the 904’s from the same vintage come in to play and then the 890. Decades of fun ahead :)
2/14/23, 1:06 PM - 890 is like 904 only much more. Excellent wine, you should give it a try 👍
Thanks for the tasting - note. May I ask which auction house / web site you bought the wine from?
1/12/23, 1:13 AM - Thanks for a lovely tasting note!
3/3/21, 12:51 AM - Hey! Try a 12-24 hour decant :)
10/19/22, 10:16 PM - What do you mean?
10/4/22, 8:25 AM - Try decanting the next one 8+ hours :)
9/29/22, 12:52 AM - Try decanting it at least 8-12 hours next time :)
5/27/22, 11:17 AM - I was fortunate enough to take advantage of the same offer - lovely wine every time (even with the difficult corks) 😅
2/1/21, 11:42 AM - We had this over Xmas and decanted it for consumption over three nights. It only started to open up after around 48 hours!
2/1/21, 11:52 PM - Excellent, thanks for sharing!
1/2/21, 9:05 AM - How long did you decant it for? My experience after around 20 bottles it that it opens up properly after about 12-16 hours - at times it can be acidic and “thin” upon opening :)
12/26/20, 1:51 AM - Try decanting it for a minimum of 12 hours - it opens up beautifully :) enjoy!
12/25/18, 10:16 AM - Had a bottle today and completely agree with your notes and score. A brilliant bottle, and perhaps the best I’ve ever had. Cheers!
3/4/15, 9:56 AM - Mine opened up nicely first after four hours of decanting but was stunning nonetheless from the first zip. Great buy!
2/26/15, 8:57 AM - If it's only a decent wine, why 90 points?
