Dark color and dark fruit ,wine was very clean but there was lots of residue on bottle(neck).

8/8/13, 12:58 PM - Many wines will do this and although there isn't a perfect correlation with quality, I find that those wines that sediment out like this are more likely to be of good quality than those that don't sediment out.

A bit disappointing after the nice description from Lot18 on this. I rated it as enjoyable, but not over the top. The nose reminds me of wet laundry and leaves on a rainy day. Some would say 'cat pee'. The taste is a bit on the bitter and sharp side with fruit present, but with the acidity, it seems more citrusy. In some ways this reminded more of bitters. Interestingly, this became very flat after time in the glass with almost all of the nose also going away. With some reading, I'm now wondering if the initial odor was Brett that went away with air time. This is the first wine that I've noticed such a large difference on the nose between the initial opening and the aroma over time in the glass.

So far, two bottles of this wine are too sweet (not in a good way) to even drink. What a shame!

2/26/12, 9:56 AM - 50 points indicates that the stuff in the glass did not look like, smell like, or taste like wine. Please do not add a number to your rating if it is not done conscientiously. This is a forum for many people to get information on their wines and a backhanded rating like this offers no value.

2/2/11, 8:57 PM - I found this one to be rather disappointing. I was hoping for something with much more character and I found this one straightforward. Could not even approach a tawny I got from Toogood vineyard in the sierra foothills. I don't have much experience with tawnys as a whole, how did this compare in your experience?

First time trying this varietal. Disappointing - minimal body, unappealing bouquet, overall flavor not to my taste. It's not undrinkable, but I'll be using it for a stew instead.

2/2/11, 8:54 PM - The Varietal is actually quite good if you find a better bottle than this. This is truly crud. Try something from napa or sonoma
