Tart initially; opened later with lemon-apricot; bracing supportive acidity; balanced crusty finish.

Thanks for your comment. To expand on crusty - I experienced acidic light lemon curd notes.

Red
2003 Domaine du Pégau Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Réservée Red Rhone Blend

Green and tannic with light fruit and a harsh backbone.
  • paulst commented:

9/1/14, 5:24 AM - Thanks for your note. Could be a bad bottle, especially when I see other posts. I had two and both were disappointing. Could have also been a transportation issue.

Red
2004 Fattoria Galardi Terra di Lavoro Roccamonfina IGT Aglianico

Light earthy light cherry. Delicate with an slight acidic backbone.
  • paulst commented:

8/26/14, 6:34 PM - I think I opened it too soon, especially when I look at the drinking window. But, with very little fruit I am worried about its future.

Austere with light cedar and cola; textured and moderate finish.
  • paulst commented:

12/9/13, 6:14 AM - Hard to say. I am a relative newby with the CA Pinots. My prime focus is with those of Bordeaux. With that in mind, I'm inclined to say it needs more time because of its tannic backdrop. What are your thoughts?

Red
2005 Château Cap de Faugères Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux Red Bordeaux Blend
8/25/2013 - paulst Likes this wine:

No notable nose; blackberry; unbalanced, greenish and tannic; time will help?
  • paulst commented:

8/26/13, 5:23 PM - I am always hopeful. What are the characteristics that form your doubts?

Red
2005 Château Rollan de By Médoc Red Bordeaux Blend

Rubber and tar nose; opulent blackberry and raspberry; coarse, textured and nicely balanced; nice concentration on the finish; great QPR here.
  • paulst commented:

8/26/13, 10:58 AM - It is improving and developing, but not as young as a 2005 Cap de Fagerers from Cotes de Castillion, which I had next to it and was much more green tannic.

Rubber earthy nose; blackberry; smooth; tannins a bit tart. Hoping it will improve. There is a tart and rather dry streak in the finish although the soft blackberry does come through.

Flowered light black cherry nose; black cherry on palate with complex flavors of light raisen, blackberry and cherry with undertones of vegatables; light tannins that are already nicely integrated but show promse of a great future.
