I have been drinking wine for 12 years. This is the most acidic bottle yet. The nose was elegant, seductive, and beautiful. The palate was: Did someone squeeze lemon into my wine?

Seeing that there are some mixed reviews below. I am probably just one of the many unlucky ones to get a bad bottle.

Sad and disappointing.

I now only purchase directly from the vintners or from a retailer that will accept the return of any flawed bottle.....The Moose

Double decanted and consumed over the next few hours. A stunning wine perfectly suited for my palate. Restrained dark fruit with a distinctive note of anise followed with refined tannins.

Very pleasant. Decanted about 90 minutes. Inky purple. Bold black and purple fruit. On night two became more petite/cab like, but still with primary fruits. Good finish.

Decanted for an hour, but still could have used longer. Soft lovely nose of dark berry and oak. On the palate dark berries, floral, chocolate, and some surprising spiciness mid-palate. It was not as well balanced as I had remembered the last bottle, with the spice dominating. This was served with an entree of Moroccan lamb and root vegetables which helped to moderate the spiciness of the wine. I wish I held onto this last bottle a little longer or decanted for a longer time. Still very good!

Best Syrah I've had yet -- and I'm not a fan of Syrah. Popped and decanted a very inky purple into the decanter. Nose was less abundant and punchy than I thought it would be, but was ripe with caramel, blueberry pie, and blackberry. The palate was an attenuated fruit forward, with a blackberry rhubarb kind of texture, a little bit sweet but more than ample fruit (not in your face, but definitely "there.") This one was very silky even on entry - heat was all but gone, and the mid-palate showed some cinnamon, blackberry, mocha, with a blueberry kind of finish, peppery, but not all that tannic at all. This one was certainly layered up, and showed well. It was one of about a dozen bottles, and was probably close to being number 1 of the night. Very nice bottle, but I'm sad it's gone and will promptly order another few to save away for another couple of years. I still believe this one has about 5-7 years left. Not so sure it's a 2021 drinker - I'd say more like 2018. I believe this one is close to the height of its potential right now, so my advice is to put this one right by the cellar door for a quick grab when you have a few good oenophile friends over -- they'll love this one.

If you like Grenache that is on the fruitier (cherries) side, this is easy drinking with a medium finish and solid structure. Could use a bit more body and the finish could have been longer, but for $40ish it's a good value as a California alternative to fruitier, New World-ish CdP.

velvet smooth. light floral notes and enough depth to last a while. probably high alcohol, but well masked. could have a bit more complexity. Concentrated, which can be mistaken for acidity, but probably will end up sweet. Hard to see Jeb's score in this, but still pretty good.

Blecch. Never said that in a note. This was like syrup with volatile acidity. There's A possibility this was a damaged bottle but after a bunch of subpar bottles, I am done giving the benefit of the doubt. Most overrated wine I have ever bought.

I don't understand the 88 point rating given by one CT user....who didn't explain why. So let me tell you why this is a 90. First off, this wine is true to Cabernet Franc form. It has the floral on the nose, the mint, eucalyptus, lilac, jasmine, hawthorne......it smells like a wildflower meadow. Pours a nice purple with dark red undertones into the glass. On the palate is a wine that is medium bodied at best. It's Cab Franc - not supposed to have a lavish full bodied backbone. The initial taste goes up the nose with jasmine and wildflower, with a nice black cherry that settles in the mid-palate to somewhat of an alcoholic heat (much better on day 2). The finish is a little earthy, still very medium bodied, not full bodied and certainly not sweet. Has a fair amount of oak barrel and tannin. This wine is a youngster. Like any Beringer single vineyard wine, this one can go for quite a while. The Howell Mountain origin almost guarantees this one until 2022 or perhaps longer, but I'd say that the top of the hill is probably 2017/18. Excellent and TRADITIONAL Cab Franc - this is not a Franc dressed up in an Oakville tuxedo --- the bottle has simply been allowed to be itself. Bravo Beringer.

5/9/15, 2:57 PM - I am in full agreement. It is probably one of the best iterations of cabernet franc I have ever had. Thank you for your very insightful review.

Again, I have a hard time enjoying this iteration of Zin. The nose is so heavy with shaved aluminum and the palate so jammy and hot, that it is just too exhibitionist for my taste anymore. Less and less Zinfandel in my cellar and this is one of the reasons why. I find the Dusi from TJ much more to my liking, though

Sweet, pruney and simple with virtually no structure. I can't see this wine going anywhere positive, it just doesn't have the stuffing to evolve. A sad showing from this splendid winery. Parker's 96 rating is inexplicable and very worrisome. Tasted three times from three different cases over a five week period with consistent results.

(Tasted at the Turley Pickup Party) Dark red with nice legs. Bouquet is closed right now, but it hints at nice things to come with some bottle age. The nose reminded L of a barrel room. I picked up more herbs and spices, mostly nutmeg, sage and cinnamon. The fruit is hidden in both the mouth and the finish. But, again, it's still very young. Wait 3 years?

Hello radar, look down! This wine is amazing.
Nose of brambly blue and black fruits. Palate is dense and chewy, but chewy in a graceful way. This has an interesting quality of blue fruits with blackberries, plum pumice, framboise and Carmon. Balance is impeccable and tannins control the ride, but they are kind and thoughtful. All seems in place with the added bonus of depth and plushness. This is mountain fruit at its best; this really balances strength with grace. Finish is long and the fruit remains true. Acidity is just about where I want it. Grabbed these for a song last year, and well worth full fare if I hadn't.

Again, I have to go against the grain. Decanted and consumed over 3 hours, heavy dark ripe fruit that just didn't create an exceptional experience. Don't know if this is a typical Copain wine, but will probably avoid the label with so many other excellent choices at this price point.
